Dear Parent/Guardians, We have arranged the 6th year graduation photo to be taken tomorrow Thursday 6th May at 10am. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year, we will take an aerial drone photograph of students. This is weather permitting but the forecast seems favourable for tomorrow so we need to avail of the oppertunity. Please ensure that your son/daughter is present on Thursday and is in full uniform. This morning Ms McGann organised a Zoom Call with Grace O Sullivan MEP for all TY students. This is to celebrate Europe day. TY students from Loreto Clonmel, Blackwater Community School, Hamilton High School Bandon and Kings Hospital also joined us on the call. It was excellent to hear what life as an MEP involves.

The Three Teds

Today Ms McGann’s 3rd year Business Studies Class had a zoom call with a local business called The Three Teds. This business offers Afternoon Tea, DIY Pizza Kits, Pick up a picnic and plenty more. Students knowledge was enhanced from hearing Niamh and Natalie’s business start up story. Students enjoyed “Rocky Road” & Brownies which the Three Teds delivered to the school. This weekend the Three Teds are giving a discount to all Friary students that order from them. You can get more information on their Facebook and Instagram pages. Well done to Luke Reeve for choosing this local business and chairing today’s zoom call.

Today cancer survivor Juliette O Connell spoke to TY students on the importance of breast health, making them more breast aware and knowing from a younger age what is and isn’t normal. If an irregularity is detected, it can be examined early, with the outcome far more positive. TY is an ideal time to educate young people and girls in particular about their breast health. Juliette spoke about good breast health, taking the fear out of a breast cancer diagnosis, and educated our students about how to perform a self-breast examination.

Today Ms McGann’s 3rd year Business Studies class enjoyed a zoom call with Ken Madden from The Lismore Food Company. Lismore Food Company is the most luxurious food company in Ireland. They produce exceptional products and make hampers and delights. Students engaged in a question and answer session with Ken and they learned all about the runnings of a company. Ken sent a packet of chocolate apple sticks to every student in the class. Well done to Liam Leacy for doing his project on the Lismore Food Company and for chairing today’s meeting.
