Dear Parents/Guardians,

As part of the SPHE curriculum, your child will take part in the Relationships and Sexuality strand during March/April 2024.

In this strand, the key focus is on creating and maintaining healthy and respectful relationships.

Students will build on their knowledge of puberty and reproduction. They will explore the nature of human sexuality. They will also learn how to take care of their emotional wellbeing

If you do not wish your child to participate in the Relationships and Sexuality strand of the SPHE programme, please contact the school.

You may find the following sources of information useful.

Yours sincerely,

Next up is ‘The Butterfly Effect’ by Rachael O’Loughlin and Grace Naughton. The top and skirt are comprised of old fabrics: an old black top and ballet tutus, surrounded with painted cereal boxes in the shape of long petals and butterflies. The wings, cut from an old table protector, are painted in the pattern of a buttlerfly’s wing and are covered in old cd’s, coffee pods and mirror fragments to create a shimmering effect. The next submission is ‘Lady Capri’ by Kayla Roche, Lily Field and Róisín King. The name and design is informed almost in its entirety by empty capri sun pouches. An old bedsheet is cut and sewn into the shape of a skirt and train, both embellished with capri sun pouches which are cut, arranged and handled in a variety of ways. The top features an old pair of jeans, folded and sewn, with sequins removed from an old top. Photographed by Grace Naughton.
