Dear Parents/Guardians

The start of the academic school year is approaching and we, at the Intermediate School Killorglin, are looking forward to meeting our new First Year students at the end of August.

You have been previously informed that for the 2024/25 school year all students in First Year will receive free schoolbooks and certain other classroom resources in our school.

All schoolbooks provided under the new scheme will remain the property of the school, so that they can be reused in future years.  These schoolbooks, therefore, will be provided on loan to students and must be returned, in some cases at the end of this school year and in other cases at the end of the three year Junior Cycle.

Please remind your children to take care of their schoolbooks and keep them in good condition during the period that they are in their possession.  It is not permitted to write on these schoolbooks.

In order to prepare for the beginning of school term First Year students and their parents are invited to attend the school, on Friday 16th August between 10am and 2pm, to receive their new schoolbooks and resources.  Ms. Conway and Ms. Sheehan will be in attendance to meet parents and students on that day.

To ensure that the books are kept in good condition all books must be covered.  ‘A4 Stationery, Killorglin’ provides this service and will be prepared to facilitate any parents/students who wish to have their books covered professionally.  The cost, in this case, is not covered by the scheme.

Parents/students should also note that there may be additional classroom resources required that are not covered by the scheme e.g. Photocopying, Home Economics ingredients, etc.  A full itemised list of these additional items will be provided to students at the start of the school term.

Many thanks for your co-operation.

Kind Regards,

Joe O’ Dwyer
