TY Tree-Planting

Our TYs planted 17 trees today as part of their Community Involvement Program in conjunction with Killorglin Tidy Towns. Believe it or not Ireland has the lowest forest cover in Europe, a paltry 11% in comparison to a European average of well over 30%. An increase in the number of trees is very important to the future of the planet and our thanks to James Daly for educating our students, providing trees and imparting his knowledge on where and how to plant native species such as Oak, Silver Birch, Scot's Pine and Mountain Ash. If there is an area around Killorglin or an estate, for example, where you would like some trees to be planted please contact the school and we will do our best to make it happen.

Kevin Griffin

It is with deep sadness that we have to share the news today that our friend and colleague Kevin Griffin passed away suddenly yesterday. Kevin taught in the school for many years. He was a wonderful teacher who had a great love of all his subjects - in particular he had a great love of Literature, Latin and History - and he will be remembered fondly by those he taught,. Teaching was more than just a job to Kevin and he gave enormously of himself in all areas of life in school, whether it be school plays, Athletics and School Tours (which he even participated & lead in well into his retirement). His familiar figure will be greatly missed by all those who had the pleasure of his company. The school has lost a wonderful leader and a friend. Our thoughts are with Breda, Jessie, Carrie, Eve and all his family
