Dear Parents/Guardians As we come to the end of the year I would like to take this opportunity to compliment and commend our 3rd year students for their cooperation and positive attitude during this term.It is important that they get plenty of rest and relaxation during the holidays. The Junior cycle exams are also ahead and I would encourage each and every student to put aside a small amount of time each day for study/revision.Students were given a study planner at Assembly on Monday which should help with organising their revision.Reports have gone home and we will be holding our virtual parent /teacher meeting in January.I wish each and everyone a very happy Christmas and every best wish for the New Year. Kindest Regards Ms Ni Bhroin
School Reports - Attendance Details

Dear Parent/Guardian, Apologies, there appears to be a discrepancy in the recorded absences on our school reports. It appears that the system defaulted to a start date in August which is skewing the figures. We can assure you that the rolls are accurate on our MIS system. When calculating absences, we use the 6th September as our start date due the phased return to school as a result of Covid 19 precautions. We will work with our service providers to have this issue resolved. Take care, JP Cahillane

School Reports - New Feature

Dear Parent/Guardian, Our school reports will be published at the beginning of next week. Please ensure that you can log in to your Progresso account over the weekend. There will also be an option of using a Cloud School App (not our School App) to access our reports this year. More information will be provided next week. New feature of our School Reports We have added a new field to our school reports this year. It is “Academic Potential” and is found at the top right corner of the report. Academic Potential is a broad informed approximation of your student’s expected academic capability where they fully apply themselves to their schoolwork in each subject. Academic Potential is presented in four broad bands (1-4). These bands are established using your student’s overall mean(average) score generated from the four areas of the CAT4* test. Namely, Verbal Reasoning (thinking with words), Quantitative Reasoning (thinking with numbers), Non-verbal Reasoning (thinking with shapes) & Spatial Ability (thinking with shape and space). There may be a slight variance between subjects at junior cycle, which may on occasion be more pronounced at senior cycle. More information on the Academic Potential bands is available in the Parent/Guardian Report Aid, which will be shared with you alongside the reports. This informed approximation is currently based on the results of our Entrance Assessments (CAT4E). These results were shared with you when your student was/is in First Year**, where you received more substantial data on the different aspects of the CAT assessments. Our students sit the follow-on CAT4F assessments in Third Year, again the results are shared with you. In this set of reports, the academic potential of all students is based on their Entrance Assessments. Therefore, while a fair indication, the approximation for our senior students in these reports is not definitive. We will have the Academic Potential for all our senior cycle students updated to reflect the results of their CAT4F assessments for our next set of reports in March 2022 and thereafter. **Note; Since we did not have a First Year Information Evening due to Covid19 restrictions, current 1st Year parents/guardians have not yet received the Parent Report from the CAT 4 test – this will be shared with you in early January. *CAT4 = Cognitive Abilities Test Fourth Edition

On behalf of the U16 management, the team and the school community we would to thank Alan Condron in SuperValu, Clane for his very generous sponsorship of new jerseys for the U16 football team. SuperValu had previously sponsored tops for our seniors and we are very grateful for the continued sponsorship of Gaelic football in our school from a prominent local business who are excellent in their sponsorship of local community endeavour. Pictured are Alan Condron, SuperValu and Calum Doran, U16 football Captain.
