Message From The Principal

Dear Parents, The news that Covid restrictions are being lifted is very welcome. It has been a long two years and hopefully people stayed healthy throughout the time. The school must still follow Covid guidelines until the end of February. HEPA filters were ordered before Christmas and are now in every classroom. It has been cold in school and we have allowed students wear their coats in class. Hopefully, the Hepa filters will allow teachers to close the windows for a while during class time. As restrictions are lifted, lockers will be made available to students in the coming weeks and we also plan to reopen the sports hall for PE and sports. Over the last two years we relaxed certain rules in order to keep the school open throughout the pandemic. We will be reinforcing them again from now on. • School Journal Students must have a school journal with them in school every day. • Uniform Student must present neatly in full uniform for school. • Mobile phone Mobile phones are not permitted in the school unless the teachers gives permission to use them in class. I also have concerns about students leaving class to go to the toilet during class time and students not attending class. Toilets For some it is a necessity, but for many others they are using it to waste class time and meet up with friends from other classes. From Monday 31st January if a student wishes to leave class to go to the toilet, they must first have their school journal signed by their teacher. Secondly they must leave their phone in the classroom. (Many students are messaging friends in other classes to meet them out of class). On return to class they may collect their phone from the teachers’ desk. If a student does not present their school journal for signing or refuses to hand up their phone, they will not be given permission. If a student does not have their phone in school, they only need to get their journal signed. If a student does not hand up their phone and subsequently is caught with their phone they will be suspended. Students not attending classes Students who do not go to class will be suspended. Thank you for your cooperation

Hard luck to the senior footballers who were narrowly defeated by the smallest of margins, 0-1, in the semi final today against Maynooth. The fight and spirit shown for the 60 minutes , despite many set backs , made us all very proud. The team were excellently prepared by Mr. Power, Mr.Cribbin and Mr.Kavanagh since U14 and the team will no doubt look back with fond memories of their time playing football for the school. An excellent year made possible by an exceptional group of players.

Dear Parent/Guardian I am sure that you are aware of the rapidly worsening humanitarian situation in Ukraine. Our thoughts and prayers are with the residents of Ukraine as they endure an attack on their country. In an effort to help those in need, we are holding a ‘Blue and/or Yellow’ item of clothing day this Thursday. We are asking students to make a donation on that day and wear clothing of blue and/or yellow colouring if possible. Donations can be given directly to their tutor or via the school app - minimum donation on the App is €5 . All funds raised will be given directly to the Red Cross, Thanks in advance. Kind regards, Stephen O'Brien
