This summer in the first week of August , 11 girls from our school travelled to Lourdes with the diocese of Kildare and Leighlin as youth helpers led by Bishop Denis Nulty. Their roles entailed attending and participating in the various services throughout the week as water distributors, Ministers of the Eucharist, choir members, Ministers of the Word, and helping with the collections. Along with that they assisted members of our pilgrim community in wheelchairs. The services included a rosary each night, sacrament of reconciliation, stations of the cross, candlelit procession and the baths. While the week was hard, it was also extremely enjoyable and rewarding. The girls are already looking forward to returning as helpers again next year.
