This week’s book recommendation is a young adult novel of romance and time travel. ‘Opposite of Always’ by Justin A. This should be the end of the love story but Kate’s death sends Jack back in time to the moment they first met. This book is available in the school library.

“Matilda said, "Never do anything by halves if you want to get away with it. Be outrageous. Go the whole hog. Make sure everything you do is so completely crazy it's unbelievable...” ― Roald Dahl, Matilda
An enormous congratulations to our TY musical students, Ms. Finnegan, Ms. Nolan and Ms. Reilly who put on two incredible evening shows of Matilda this week. These students certainly went the whole hog, it was unbelievable! They continually demonstrated leadership, work ethic, teamwork, dedication and willingness to work overtime. Despite the multitudinous challenges Covid presented they came out the other side all singing and all dancing. Many thanks also to our entrepreneurs, artists, and all those who supported in both the run up to and during the performances.
During the Easter break a number of our TY students were lucky enough to savour the views of Lake Garda, romanticise in Verona the city of love and sail down the canals of Venice. It was a hugely successful trip, many memories were created that will be cherished for many years to come.
Today TY2 and 3 had their first session with retired Dublin Gaelic Football Champion Kevin McManamon. They completed Part 1 of the Aware Life Skills Programme. Life Skills for Schools is an educational programme available aimed at helping young people develop helpful ways of thinking and managing concerns. This weeks programme included:
UNDERSTANDING YOUR FEELINGS
This session introduces cognitive behavioural (CBT) and helps the group understand that what we think and do influences how we feel.
ARE YOU STRONG ENOUGH TO KEEP YOUR TEMPER (1,2,3 Breath)
This session helps recognise what winds us up, and how to control anger and improve happiness and relationships.
Next week our TY students will complete their final work experience block. We wish them all the very best and look forward to reading their daily reflection on how they are progressing throughout the week.
Dates for the Diary include:
TY Pizza Challenge - 18th May
TY Bake Sale - 20th May
The Great TY Bake Off is back - 24th May
TY Night - 25th May
TY Mystery Tour - 31st May
