Dear All, Just to thank everyone for your overwhelming response, for having placed your list of the deceased into the prayer box at reception, ‘In November We Remember’. ‘The Alter List for the Dead’ was presented at the altar during mass on All Souls Day (2nd of November) at St. Brendan’s Church, Coolock. For the rest of November you can continue to offer up the names of the deceased. Those whom you might have forgot or those who have passed away recently. Again, your intentions will be prayed for in another mass at the end of the month. God Bless you all. Peace be with you. Mr. Devine Chaplain

TY Update & What’s On Next Week

This week the TY’s completed their last week before the Halloween midterm and what better way to start it than dressing up! Each house had a different theme and we saw a splendid mix of costumes between all the TY classes. The competition was high as the different houses went head to head to win house points! Tuesday continued with a talk led by a University College Dublin Medical Student. They gave an in-depth insight into the HPAT and how best to prepare for it. We hope that everyone who attended found it beneficial, and hopefully feels better prepared for what may lie ahead. For weeks there have been whispers in the halls about hip hop dance battles, costume madness, and a TY Irish class full of stars. The day of the Coiste Gaeilge singing competition finally arrived Today, there was fierce competition across all the classes, with excellent performances from a wide variety of dances, costumes, and of course fabulous singing! However, there must be a winner. Congratulations to Mr. McCann and his class's wonderful rendition of Shallow Comhghairdeas le Mr.McCann agus a rang! TY is never quiet in OLS, and this week was no exception in the long list of Sign Up’s available. TY students were given the opportunity to sign up for morning or after-school gym. This is a fabulous opportunity to get yourself up and about in the morning or to get your exercise in after a day of classes! TY’s were also given the chance to sign up to go to Zipit. There are still spots left and if ziplining through the trees is for you we would encourage you and your friends to sign up! The list of clubs and extracurricular activities on offer is ever growing. If managing money is something that you are good at and you are considering a future career in banking then you should consider putting your name forward to run the “School Bank”. Seven lucky TY students will get to join an initiative run by Bank of Ireland and they will learn about banking through practical experience. We are delighted to announce the much anticipated return of Tech 4U. This initiative, run with the help of the TY’s, aims to help elderly members of the community acquire more digital knowledge while promoting community spirit. This is an excellent way to become more involved in your community and get to know the older generation. Helpers are needed so we would encourage anyone with some free time to sign up! Don’t forget it can be used for Gaisce! As TY it is never too early to be thinking about career options. This week on their google classroom there was a link posted outlining the process of joining An Garda Síochána. Within this link, there is information on the training programme and the special units within the force. All this information is useful to look at especially if this is a career that you are considering. The TY reps have been busy putting together the first TY video update of the year to document what has happened in TY so far. This video is available on the school's youtube channel through the link below. The fabulous Reps can’t wait to show you everything that they have been up to from the fabulous Carlingford Trip to their first development day! Finally, we wish a wonderful but of course, relaxing midterm to all our TY’s and one that will re-energise them for all the exciting things that have been planned for the leadup to the end of Term One. Happy Halloween everyone! Contributed to this week by Saibh Gormley youtu.be/qb1_mBrECIQ
