The TY’s came back this week well rested and ready to take on all that the next 6 weeks have to offer!
Monday began with the launch of this year's fabulous TY hoodies, designed by the artistic TY Enterprise class! The colours on offer include peppermint blue and candyfloss pink. Well done to the TY enterprise class for organising this annual TY tradition in OLS.
The first block of work experience is fast approaching and an exciting time for all! Pastoral Care this week focused on students discussing how to conduct themselves in a professional environment and what they can expect while out on work experience. They discussed what to wear, the importance of first impressions and the importance of reflection after each day. Completing daily reflections is of utmost importance as this is how the fourth years will earn their credits for completing their work experience.
Wednesday saw OLS’s inaugural lab leaders training take place. Our brilliant newly trained scientists will each be assigned a sixth class student from Pius X GNS. The Lab Leaders will enrich the Pius girls with all they know from each of the science fields. They will show them around the school and what the science programme in Our Lady’s has to offer. Well done and thank you to these budding scientists for participating!
Zipit is happening! The link is now available on easypayments. For those who have signed up for this wonderful activity make sure you pay so that you will be on this most sought after adventure.
Once again TY is an action packed year and things are never at a rest in terms of signing up for new and exciting things. Now on their google classroom, TY's can sign up to attend a half day programme run by UCD on Physics. This programme is a must for anyone who is passionate about pursuing a career in Science and has an interest in Physics and learning about what it is like to study at a University level.
A gentle reminder went out to all students in relation to the IADT open day. This takes place next Saturday the 19th of November. After such a fantastic visit and presentation by IADT students may be very keen to attend this open day. Don’t forget to register.
This week students also had the opportunity to sign up for the Early University Programme at Dublin City University. This is an acceleration programme for TY students. Participants may follow modules from degree programmes available at DCU, part-time, throughout Semester 2.
A gentle reminder to everyone that the much anticipated first round of TY interviews start next week. Make sure to check out google classroom to ensure that you know where you're supposed to be and when. You must come prepared with your e-portfolio in hand so that you can tell your interviewer all that you have experienced and participated in TY so far!
Next week approximately 60 TY students will participate in “Run in the Dark” in aid of The Mark Pollock Trust. It is the Trust's mission to find and connect those people worldwide to fast-track a cure for paralysis. Everybody participating has donated 10 euros to this worthy cause and we can’t wait to see everybody out and ready to run or walk on Tuesday evening! This community activity is being run by our Sports Leadership class who are all set up and ready to go with a few surprises in store! Make sure to wear as much COLOUR and bright lights as possible. Fairlights, tutus, the works! We look forward to presenting students with their medals afterwards!

It is the end of yet another week here in the school.
The Charity Club is running its annual knitathon in aid of the Peter McVerry Trust and ‘Received Yarn’ charity. Each Thursday and Friday students and staff are invited to knit in the GPA. Needles and wool are available to purchase in the GPA at lunchtime.
There are house points up for grab to the house with the most participants and extra points for the greatest number of hats/scarves donated.
Our new school canteen has been up and running this week. It has been a great start with numerous students ordering food. Remember to keep your cards topped up for next week!
On Thursday the House council set up a table tennis tournament between houses with teacher also getting involved. Well done to M House who came out victories at the end.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 8th November, we will see the long awaited opening of our canteen service. There will be a break and lunch service each day with an updated weekly menu. All students should have received their personal swipe card to avail of this cashless service. Students will need to register, top-up and pre-order on the website mentioned on the distributed flyer. We reckon tomorrow will be rather busy so it might be prudent to pack a nibble or two just in case we have any teething issues on our first day.

Pitta pizza €2
Pancakes €2.50
