Art Trip to London

On Saturday 28th October Our Lady's Art department embarked on the school's first overnight Art trip to London. Ms Maguire, Mr Kenny and seventeen Leaving Certificate students visited three world renowned galleries over the two days - The Tate, Tate Modern and the Victoria and Albert museum. The students were exposed to a wide variety of art from all over the world and from many different eras. A great trip was had by all - hopefully the first of many!

Well done to our first round of first year Accelerated Reader winners who received certificates and prizes. You are all Star Readers! We also have our first Word Millionaire of the year. Maia Carvill in L1 has read well over a million words since September. What a huge achievement, well done! The next round will be handed out before Christmas so get reading! *Not pictured from P1, Caitlin Evoy and Sarah Moore also received AR certificates

Yes, we had BOTH cups and SIX visiting all-Ireland medal winners in our Sports Hall this afternoon! Masterful MCs Chloe Mullen and Aoife Dwyer (6th Year) welcomed and introduced the players (Rachel Ruddy, Kevin McManamon, Denis Bastick, Colm Basquel, Eoghan O'Gara) and Jim Gavin. An interview panel made up of our own senior footballers put our iconic guests though their paces, asking them about their football and sporting experiences. Chloe, our Sports Captain, even managed to persuade Kevin McM to sing us a song! After some motivational words of wisdom from Jim and the players, we finished up with a photo-shoot and jersey-signing frenzy!

Our Lady's School participated in the annual Model United Nations conference at Rathdown School (RADMUN) this weekend with fantastic results. Ten students from 4th and 5th year represented the countries of Venezuela and Pakistan with Marie Bishop (B5) and Aimee Murphy (B5) being awarded Distinguished Delegate certificates. We also had the only resolution to pass the General Assembly with Aimee Murphy's resolution on deforestation on behalf of Pakistan. Congratulations!
