The new Junior Cycle brings with it some exciting opportunities for developing the curriculum in Our Lady’s School. The introduction of Wellbeing and Short Courses at Junior Cycle creates a need for all schools to review their current provision and to plan for a changing education experience for students at Junior Cycle. We are currently undertaking a curricular review in response to this and we will be consulting staff, students, the Board of Management and the parent body. We invite you to complete this survey and submit by Wednesday 13th March: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSef9dsBpA4tJGSQe6ylR4rHhLV9Mp3SV5ay067lMt65prweWA/viewform?usp=sf_link Many thanks.

Seachtain na Gaeilge in OLS begins next week. We are hoping to encourage the spoken language in school over the next few weeks. On Monday the Coiste Gaeilge will be dropping in to classes with some fun activities 'as Gaeilge'. We are having 'Lá Labhartha na Gaeilge' on Tuesday , where we will encourage everyone to practise their 'cúpla focal'. TY students will be running lunchtime activities 'as Gaeilge'. L4 are going to be getting students active and dancing on Tuesday, C4 will be doing bingo on Wednesday, B4 will have a treasure hunt on Thursday and P4 will be showing a movie on Friday. The emphasis in all cases is fun! There will be other events and competitions taking place in class time. And of course on March 22nd we will have the annual Céilí Mór so we hope you are all practising!!

Well done to the Senior Bs and their coach, Ms Hallissey, who represented OLS in their league Leinster Final today. They put in a stellar performance but unfortunately lost by a goal scored by the opposition in the final minutes of the game. We are very proud of their efforts in getting to this stage of the competition and representing us so well on the pitch. Off the pitch, well done to our Trojan supporters who played an excellent game as 12th woman!
Poem of the Week...

In this this poem, the poet describes her experience of obliging a homeless man’s request for a hug. The stranger’s hug is so powerful that the experience leads her to a surprising and powerful moment of realisation, about our universal human instinct to give and receive love. Dedicated to Ms Cantwell!

We had a sensational Saturday morning's hockey this week with both Junior A and Senior B teams winning semi-finals to earn a place in Leinster finals over the coming days. The Senior Bs are in action against Muckross on Friday at 12.15 in Three Rock. Supporters' tickets will be on sale in the GPA at lunchtime tomorrow for €7, which covers the cost of the bus there and back and entry in to the grounds. The tickets are available to hockey players (priority will be given to Junior and Senior teams), sisters and friends of the team. The Junior As will take on High School on Monday at 11.30 in Three Rock and tickets will be on sale in the GPA on Wednesday for this match. €7 per ticket, as above, with priority given to Junior, Minor and 1st Year teams, sisters and friends of the team. This is a wonderful achievement for the players and their coaches (Senior B - Ms Hallissey, Junior A - Ms Flood) who have been training tirelessly since September for this eventuality. We wish them the very best of luck. Our fundraising campaign is steadily progressing. Thank you for your contributions to date. Our next interim target is the €20,000 mark which we hope to reach in the next two weeks. A reminder that all donations are gratefully accepted through Easy Payments, a cheque via the office or the GoFundMe page. Please feel free to share this link with friends of OLS: www.gofundme.com/ols-sports-facilities-fundraiser. Many thanks.

Wednesday evening marked the occasion of a very special event in Our Lady’s School, the memorial mass of former teacher and principal of the school, Mrs Ann Brodie. A beautiful ceremony was followed by a series of heartfelt tributes acutely reflecting the high esteem in which Mrs Brodie's legacy is held within the OLS community. Members of her family, the sisters of the RCE, past pupils, past and current staff members gathered to honour the tremendous contribution of Mrs Brodie to the school over her many years of dedicated service. We would like to thank all those who joined us for the evening. A very special thank you also to the many people involved in the planning and organisation of such an appropriate and meaningful tribute to a truly inspirational woman. May she rest in peace.
