2nd Year
Today the 2nd Years had a very interesting and exciting speaker in to talk to them about wellbeing, resilience and being a bully-proof kid. Stella O'Malley is a mental health professional, writer, best-selling author, public speaker and a parent with many years’ experience working in counselling and psychotherapy. Much of Stella's counselling and teaching work is with parents and young people which culminated in the publication of her two bestselling books 'Cotton Wool Kids' in 2015 and 'Bully-Proof Kids' in 2017. Stella's new book "Fragile" which is about anxiety will be released in 2019. Stella writes extensively about mental health issues for newspapers such as the Irish Times, Sunday Times, Sunday Independent, Irish Examiner, Evening Herald, Daily Mail, Irish Tatler, Pregnancy and Parenting magazine and many other media outlets. Stella also frequently appears on national and local media such as RTE Radio 1, RTE television, TV3, Newstalk, Today FM and BBC Northern Ireland to discuss a broad range of topics such as mental well-being, mindfulness, conflict resolution in the workplace, communication skills, parenting and childhood issues in Ireland today. A GOAL mile was organised on St. Stephen's Day by some staff and the Enterprise group of TY students of OLS. A big thank you to members of our school community and to the wider Terenure/Templeogue community who participated in this event. We raised €10,450. This was the largest amount of money collected from any GOAL mile run in Ireland over the 2018 Christmas period, an amazing community achievement!
