We want the very best for our students and the benefits of outdoor activity have never been so important to ensure positive health and wellbeing.
We would love you to join us for our OLS Race Night in Spawell, Templeogue. This will be a fun and easy going night out to meet others within the OLS community as we commence our fundraising journey together with our girls whilst supporting the drive for enhanced sports facilities (first priority going to the resurfacing of the astroturf pitch which is now long overdue a massive makeover!).
Any help or ideas from our OLS community will be very much appreciated as €300,000 is a healthy challenge to raise! Please contact the Parents’ Council (parentscouncil@olschool.ie) with any support you may be in a position to offer the campaign.
Also, all donations are gratefully received via EasyPayments or the GoFundMe page: www.gofundme.com/ols-sports-facilities-fundraiser .
Many thanks.

Our Parents’ Council rolled out an amazing healthy breakfast this morning for the hordes of students who collected their four wellbeing stickers at activities during the week. The Parents’ Council and their team of assistants arrived at school at 7am to prepare for the troops. We had a wonderful spread of fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereal bars and orange juice. We are incredibly grateful to the Parents’ Council for supporting Wellbeing Week so wholeheartedly and pulling out all the stops today. Special thanks to Berni Durnin for co-ordinating a lot of the behind the scenes action and to Alison Healy Byrne of General Mills for supplying the Yoplait, Nature Valley and Fibre One products along with the cool Yoplait van!

This morning students who collected 4 stickers for walking/cycling to school and/or for participating in lunchtime activities during the week enjoyed a fantastic healthy breakfast in St. Joseph's Hall sponsored and organised by the Parents’ Council.
Being active was the theme for Wellbeing Friday. All year groups were given a time slot to participate in the OLS Mile Run organised by the highly efficient TY Sports Leadership class. An impressive 248 students got their bracelet for running it in under 10 minutes! Well done to all.
The focus for the lunchtime activities was also on promoting physical health. There was a self-defence class in the Sports Hall and a student led hip-hop dance class in the GPA. All 1st Year students and members of the Green Committee attended an environmental Wellbeing Talk in the Lecture Theatre at 12:50 today.
All year groups attended a prize-giving ceremony in the Sports Hall at 1:50 in which Sene Naoupu (Leinster Rugby women’s captain) gave a keynote address to the school.
Wellbeing Week ended with a Céilí Mór. Due to weather conditions, we had to abandon the hockey pitch and split in to three indoor groups – 6th Years teamed up with 1st Years while 5th Year students bonded with 2nd Years and TYs showed 3rd Years the ropes. Our very accomplished Coiste Gaeilge led the Céilís as a resounding wrap up to both Wellbeing Week and Seachtain na Gaeilge.
Bhí a lán comórtais ar siúl inár ranganna i rith Seachtain na Gaeilge. Fuair na buaiteoirí duaiseanna sa rang ar an Déardaoin! Maith sibh!
Well done to everyone who participated in the events and activities that took place during the week.

And finally, best of luck to all our students partaking in work experience this week. No doubt you will be a great asset to your employers and will represent Our Lady's wonderfully. We had a great first day of Wellbeing Week today with all students and staff getting a chance to unleash their inner child and enjoy the bouncy obstacle course and slides! Congratulations to Rachel Li & Caoilinn Dunne (B2), joint winners of the Design a Positive Merit Postcard competition. Their prize was an extra session on the bouncy equipment this morning with their whole class.
Also today, 1st and 2nd Year students watched Humourfit performances by Mike Sullivan on issues that affect teenagers in their school or social life. 1st Years watched a mental health awareness drama, 'The Value of Life', and 2nd Years watched a drama on bullying and cyber bullying 'The Mighty Bully Brady'.
Stuart Wilson (zestlife.ie), behavioural psychologist gave a talk to 5th Year students on issues that affect young people such as cyber awareness, anxiety, motivation and resilience. He will be addressing interested parents and guardians of all year groups this evening at 7pm.
Have a look at some of today's photos (click in to the Gallery for more) and DON'T FORGET TO WEAR YOUR TRACKSUIT AGAIN TOMORROW FOR SOME POUND (think Zumba with drumsticks!)!
