Today is Digital Detox Day. The focus for today is to switch off from all types of technology and to talk face to face to friends and family.
Earlier on this morning all year groups participated in a 'Mindful 10 at 10:00am'. Some classes went for a mindful walk using the Slí na Sláinte route around the perimeter of the school. Other classes participated in a 10 minute classroom-based mindfulness activity. Mindfulness has many benefits; it improves our mental and physical health and our well-being and should be incorporated into our daily lives.
Lunchtime was action packed with activities. The Basketball Challenge took place in the Sports Hall., we had traditional games and Ceol agus Craic in the GPA, Mindful colouring and origami in the library, and in the Home Economics kitchen celebrity chef Louise Lennox did a cooking demonstration.
Students who participated in lunchtime activities were given stickers and those who collected 4 will get a free breakfast tomorrow morning in st. Joseph's Hall sponsored by the Parent's Council.

Well done to Connie Heather who was one of ten finalists selected to deliver their speech at the national final of the ActionAid Speech Writing Competition in Dublin’s Royal Irish Academy yesterday. The standard of the competition was very high and Connie just missed out on the winning spot. Her speech on gender inequality was delivered with passion and conviction and we'd like to congratulate her on her achievement.

Wellbeing Week continued today with a focus on being active and connected. We kicked off the morning with a Daybreaker Just Dance session at 7:45am in Joseph's Hall and students and staff got the blood pumping in Pound classes throughout the day. The TYs participated in a Jigsaw workshop on mental health and we sang our hearts out to 'The Greatest Showman' at lunchtime. There were extra healthy lunch options in the school canteen and the Home Economics dept shared nutrition information with the whole school through a display in the GPA.
Tomorrow is Digital Detox Day and all year groups will participate in a Mindful 10 at 10:00 activity. At lunchtime there'll be traditional games in the GPA and Mindful colouring and origami in the Library. Students can also visit the Home Economics kitchen to watch celebrity chef Louise Lennox do a cooking demonstration.

Well done to B4 and P4 who organised brilliant events for Seachtain na Gaeilge. B4 organised a treasure hunt 'tóraíocht taisce' which saw students from all years participating! P4 put a film 'scannán' on and also provided some treats! Maith sibh.
The Green Schools Committee and the Student Council organised an in-house demonstration today to show their views on climate change.
Finally, well done to Clara Kinsella who showed her class while competing at the Irish Life Health All Ireland Schools Cross Country Championships in the picturesque setting of Clongowes Wood College on Saturday March 9th. Clara had an excellent performance in stacked field and came in 29th out of 85 athletes in the minor girls’ 2,000m.
