Our Lady's athletes had a fantastic day out at the Castleknock College Cross-Country Invitational. Conditions were tough as it was a cold, wet and hilly course! Well done to everyone that went out and competed. Our 2nd Year team (Niamh Ward, Rebecca Prendergast, Helen Heffernan, Abby Kelly, Heidi Eggen, Aoife Flemming, Áine Hyndman) won the silver team title in a competitive field. Our 1st Year team (Clara Kinsella, Niamh Coffey, Emma Tisdall, Ali Dougan, Eve McCormack, Laura Kennedy, Amy Dempsey) ran strongly to win the silver team title as well! Clara Kinsella (L1) capped a wonderful day of racing by capturing the gold medal in the first year race. Clara led the field from the beginning and led her team mates to the finish line.

During the celebration of our founder's Feast Day last Friday we had the inaugural ceremony of our first Le Chéile Council. These young women from 5th and 6th Year have chosen to be part of a Faith Leadership chaplaincy team in our school. As a council they will work with issues of justice and peace, interfaith celebrations, Le Chéile Pay It Forward Day, charity work and build on the cherished connection with the Sisters of our community. They will also become Ministers of the Eucharist, enabling them to represent the students at school masses and, in turn, become ministers in their own church parishes. They are an incredible group who meet each Thursday at lunchtime to evaluate and respond to the needs of the school and the wider community. Good luck with all your preparations for the Advent season.
OLS Parents' Book Club

Dear Parents, We continue in Our Lady's to promote literacy and reading. There is no better way to encourage your daughters to read than them seeing their parents reading. The aim of our school library is to encourage students to read for pleasure and to grow a reading culture within the school. We want to extend that beyond the school walls and share our love of books and reading with parents and guardians of the pupils here in OLS. We would like to to gauge the level of interest in a monthly parents' book club and can offer one of two potential options – Option A: A parents' book club hosted by our school librarian in the school library on Friday mornings at 10:50 once a month OR Option B: A book club meetup on a weekday evening at a location near the school. The school librarian won't be present for option B but can advise on book club titles and arrange a suitable venue. If this is something you'd be interested in, please follow the link and click on the option that suits you best: www.surveymonkey.com/r/P2X8ZK2 Regards, K Harte | OLS School Librarian
Tree of Remembrance

During the month of November we, as a school community, marked the passing of our loved ones. During Religion class, each student was given the opportunity to remember those they love who have passed away. Each leaf or heart on the tree bears the name of someone with a message from the student who wishes to keep their memory alive. Our tree symbolises a celebration of their lives and the love in our hearts.

The current reads take in a terrific range of genres, including non-fiction, classics, science fiction and historical fiction, from both Irish and international authors. We hope everyone gets some time to curl up with a good book this weekend.
