We wish all our TY students a well deserved lie in tomorrow. They have been very diligent in their work so far this year so we hope you enjoy the mini break. Best of luck to those who have applied for the Tenderfoot programme ran by the Civic Theater. We should be hearing if we have any successful candidates before midterm break. As always we have a vibrant volunteering spirit in OLS. Due to this we've had a lot of interest in the PEATA project. A video call will be arranged some day after school in the coming weeks to outline all that is required of the students to participate in the project. Once this is finalised the information will be posted on the google classroom. If your daughter is unable to attend, the information will be passed onto her if she gets in contact with Ms.. Phillips after the talk. The ISL Beginners course will hopefully starting in October. The Irish Deaf Society is currently looking at dates that the students are available & matching the students to a tutor. Once the courses are confirmed the payment will go live on easy payments. Again your daughter should be keeping an eye on the google classroom for updates & start dates. Please see some notices for the week ahead. 1. The Art Department have set up an Instagram account in order to show off the wonderful creations. In order for your daughter and/or her creations to appear on the account you must: a) Have permission slip submitted on the app, which is available now. b) have your daughter submit the student permission slip on the google classroom. If your daughter is not in the Junk Koture or Art class you do not need to fill out the permission slip. In order to view the posts., the account tag is @olsartdepartment. In the interest of cyber safety all comments have been disabled on the account. 2. The students in Junk Koture also require a lot of raw material to create their pieces please see a PDF attached explaining how you can help your daughter to make sure she has all the 'junk' collected that she needs. All students in the year are encouraged to collect materials to assist their fellow students in completing their projects. 3. There will be a brief 5 minute meeting on Monday for the students who expressed interest in the James' volunteering programme after school. If your daughter is unable to meet at the time due to collection/bus she has been instructed to email Ms. Phillips and the contents of the meeting will be passed on afterwards. 4. There are important forms that need to be filled out for work experience, for both for students who have work experience secured and those who have not managed to secure a place. Your daughter must have this information filled out by Wednesday. Please note she must use her @olschool.ie email account or the form will not work properly. 5. Best of luck to our Active Schools Flag & Sports Leadership class who will be running a sports afternoon next week with our first years to highlight the importance of keeping active. 6. Zeminar and the Religious retreats have been postponed due to the level 3 restrictions. When it is safe for these to go ahead, or if in the case of Zeminar possibly moved online, you will be notified via the weekly app notice and your daughter will be updated on the google classroom. . 7. The deadline to express interest for the Certified Aberdeen Angus Beef Competition is tomorrow at 15:20. Your daughter needs no background knowledge to compete, If she has an interest in diet habits or meat production in Ireland it would especially suit her, but not essential. If interested she must email Mr. Farrelly prior to 15:20 tomorrow. More information on the competition is available for your daughter on the google classroom in a post from earlier this week.

Updates for LC & LCA Class of 2020

In the information shared with you earlier in the week it was stated in both Ms. Porter 's information and in the 'The Results are Out Booklet' booklet that 'the estimated mark given by the school and the class ranking, (but not the ranking of other students), will be available on Monday 14th September (via Student Portal)'. This was correct at the time of publication. However since then these instructions have changed. Now the correct information is as follows: On Monday 14th September, students will have access (via student portal) to the calculated grade awarded by their school.. At that time students will not have access to their ranking position within their class. At a later date, the D.E.S will publish the mechanism for students to follow as to how they can access their class ranking. Students should check their student portal on Monday 14th to view instructions as to how to access their ranking.
