Well done to all the students on another great week of work experience. For the girls in the school run programme, they all did great research in various careers and have created interesting group projects. Our speakers for the week have wished you well in your future working, and some even asked for the questions the girls asked after the session because they liked them so much. For the girls who were successful in securing placements, I only heard glowing reviews from the various employers so well done on to all on their hard work.
Please see some notices for the week ahead:
1. On the 22nd of February your daughter will be starting a new module in Irish and Science. She must join her new google classroom prior to 08:30 22/02/21. All codes are posted on google classroom.
2. The SHINE Festival run by the Shóna Project, which your daughter is attending virtually in March, have requested for any students with talents they would like to showcase to submit pieces on their talents. These will then be displayed during the event. If your daughter has interest in this there are more details posted on the google classroom.
3. There have been 4 competitions advertised to your daughter on her google classroom, CIF, The Story of Your Stuff, iWISH Women in STEM, and Generation Apprenticeship. All details, prize details and websites are posted on the google classroom if your daughter has an interest in partaking.
The TY team wishes you and yours a restful Midterm break!

The Christmas atmosphere can really be felt in OLS today! Well done to all students who worked so hard this term. Enjoy your well-deserved break. A big thank you to all students and staff for making OLS feel so magical with decorations around every corner. Don't forget tomorrow is a colour day and all years have been asked to dress up as a certain Christmas theme. Like many charities Pieta house has had to cancel their main fundraising event, Darkness into Light this year. The event usually attracts hundreds of thousands of people around the world, who get up and walk run or jog into sunrise, showing that there is light at the end of the tunnel. The 6th Year council have decided to organise this colour day in aid of Pieta house
1st Years : The Late Late Toy Show
2nd Years : Christmas presents
3rd Years Christmas decorations
4th Years: Christmas songs
5th Years: Christmas dinner
6th Years: Christmas movies
We ask that each student brings in €5 for Pieta house. There will be house points for the best dressed class in each year and spot prizes for incorporating your house colours. We can’t wait to see all your bright costumes!

Lily Rath (Head Girl, Class of 2020) and Ciara Campbell (Sports Captain, Class of 2020) visited the school this morning to place a plaque in the school garden, representing the special place the Leaving Certificate Class of 2020 has in our school history. We would like to say well done to the students who studied to sit one/more Leaving Certificate exams recently. We look forward to welcoming all of this group back to school at some point when restrictions allow it. In the meantime, they have our very best wishes for a 2021 that is happy, healthy and full of the successes they deserve!
