As the festive season approaches it's time for our Annual Coin Collection and Knitathon for the Peter McVerry Trust. Thank you to all the knitters who have been working away and producing some beautiful hats and scarves for the homeless. We invite everyone (whether you can knit or not) to invest in wool and needles and join us in the GPA every lunchtime for the next two weeks. Our coin jars are ready for filling and to add a little competitive spice to the collection there will be House Points up for grabs so look under the sofa cushions, empty out the coin jars and dig deep to find loose change for a fantastic cause!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, with nice treats and all in store! treat in store for you at the end of this week’s update. Monday saw a number of our budding physicist’s take part in the UCD Physics Transition Year Online Webinar. This included interactive online seminars, thought-provoking lectures, and experiments allowing students to experience Physics in the real world. Many thanks to Ms. Finnegan for facilitating this Webinar. TY Enterprise classes enjoyed a great trip to the Gifted Craft and Design Fair in the RDS on Wednesday. They picked up lots of great tips and ideas for the TY Christmas Craft Fair on December 20th in OLS. Watch this space for further details of the perfect place to do your Christmas shopping! A very big well done again to our TY Enterprise classes who organised the TY Hoodies. There was great excitement today as our TY’s brightened up our Friday in their vibrant Pink’s and Purple’s. A big shout out also to our fantastic logo designer Quincy Manipol. Well done to our TY Active Schools Flag Class who organised a superb school wide Dodgeball tournament. The final week saw the Students take on the Teacher’s, with the teacher’s nipping the post with a 4/6 victory. We look forward to more excitement in the coming months from this Active group. Congratulations to two of our fantastic TY Rep’s, Ella McCabe and Julie Vaughan, who were chosen by the PDST to become Safer Internet Day Ambassador’s for our school. They will start their training next week and we wish them well in this programme. Throughout the week TY’s also had the opportunity to sign up to the Generation €uro Students’ Award Competition. With over a dozen students willing to take part we look forward to entering at least three TY teams for the first time. The week was also filled with excitement as the dream of Carlingford began to become a reality. We are all so excited to have something to look forward to as a whole group. A few gentle reminders: the Advanced Barista Course is now open for payment and Gifts to the Crib are also due next week. Next week we will have the final preparations in full swing as our TY students prepare for their Christmas assessments beginning the 15th December. Last but by no means least…. Our fantastic TY Rep’s have been flat out the past few weeks preparing a little treat for their parents, guardians and their fellow classmates. You may want to make yourself a cup of tea and grab a mince pie. Enjoy a snapshot of their year to date. These superb TY students don't do anything by halves! youtu.be/zWW_56anB8k
