TY Update & What’s On Next Week
Created : 04 Feb 2022, 2:16 PM
Archived : 04 Apr 2022, 12:00 AM
This week our TY Reps had the pleasure of visiting the new Le Cheile Trust Education Centre this week. They planted flowers and bulbs around the building to brighten up both the Centre and the walkway to Our Lady’s School. The girls had a tour of the centre and have been invited back to help the Le Cheile Trust brainstorm for their walled garden. The Reps also launched the ‘TY Thank you card competition’ this week. The Reps felt it was important that each TY student were able to show their appreciation to their work experience hosts at the end of each placement. They also felt there were a large number of individuals and businesses who contribute to their TY experience that they would like to thank. The competition is open to all year groups. Entries are to be sent to Ms. Phelan, lphelan@olshool.ie. The closing date is Friday the 11th of February. The winner will have their design printed on the thank you cards. Well done to all our TY students who auditioned for the Terenure Musical. We wish all of those involved the very best of luck in the coming weeks. Today all TY students engaged in ‘Shout Out’ remotely. They thoroughly enjoyed this interactive, dynamic and informative session. They explored LGBTQ+ terminology, scenarios where students can act as good allies, and ways in which to create a welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ students. This week TY students were given booklets relating to their subject choices for Leaving Certificate. It is hoped that the information in these booklets will be useful in enabling your daughter to make a well-informed decision about subject choices for 5th and 6th Year. There will be a virtual Students and Parents’ Information Presentation on Subject Choice on Monday 28th February at 4:30pm. Last but not least, we wish all TY students the very best of luck over the next two weeks as they embark on Block 2 and 3 of work experience.

Tomorrow our 3rd Years will begin their Mock Examinations. It presents a wonderful opportunity for our students to get a sense of what the June examinations will be like. Attached is the finalised timetable which outlines venue changes for Aurals and amended times for the examinations. It is important that all students print a copy of this timetable. Students who do not take specific examinations e.g. Music, may study from home or preferably remain in the exam centre to study. There will also be optional study sessions available in Lourdes Hall until 15:00 each day. On behalf of all the staff and students in OLS, we wish our 3rd Years the very best of luck over the next few weeks.
