Thank you to Dr. David Duffy from IBEC for his presentation to our future economists. Fifth and Sixth Year students were really impressed and inspired by the talk on economic forecasting. It was also a great opportunity to see a wide range of economic research in action; from housing, cost of living to Irish rugby.

The OLS Athletics team had a very successful first day in Santry for the West Leinster Schools Track and Field Finals. We struck gold early in the day with Sarah Kiernan and Molly Mullally winning the Intermediate and Senior Girls' Triple Jump respectively. Our sprinters faced stiff competition with 50 competitors in some age groups, Ruby McCabe and Maria Reid narrowly missed out of the finals. Eva McCormack qualified for the final after finishing 2nd and went on to finish a brilliant 6th place in the final. Our middle distance athletes had super performances with Róisín Hanley Byrne winning the Minor Girls' 1,100m final, Elizabeth Farrelly finishing second in the Intermediate Girls' 1,500m final and Minor Girls' duo of Alecia Maughan and Niamh Ryan finishing 5th and 7th in the Minor Girls' 500m. The girls showed their team work skill when it came to the relay races with the minor girls progressing to the final and finishing a fantastic 4th and the u16 girls team of Aoibh McNicholas, Caolinn O’Gorman, Sadhbh Coogan finishing a brilliant 2nd. There was a very happy team returning on the bus with 3 gold and 2 silvers medals. We look forward to competing again on Thursday.
Congratulations

Congratulations to Molly Mullaly (TY2) who participated in the Irish Life Health National Indoor Juvenile Championships in Athlone at the weekend. She came fourth in the Triple Jump competition which is a fantastic achievement (and even more impressive considering she had just returned for an action packed trip to Carlingford). Well done Molly!
