The 5th year LCVP class are holding a competition in aid of St. Luke’s cancer research. Each entry is €1 and students will have the chance to win some amazing prizes! Representatives will be coming to each class this Thursday and Friday. See below some more information on St. Luke’s. St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network is comprised of three cancer centres: o St Luke’s Hospital, Rathgar, o St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Centre at Beaumont Hospital o St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Centre at St James’s Hospital The Friends of St. Luke’s, even in these difficult and extraordinary times, are continuing to support patients attending St Luke’s Hospital, Rathgar, as well as supporting the needs of patients attending all three Cancer Centres. In 2021, with the help of fundraisers like yourselves we are funding some very important projects across the Network which include: • Continued funding for the Child and Adolescent play area for our paediatric service. St Luke’s is the only centre that provides Paediatric Radiation Therapy. The Friends are funding a dedicated space for both children and their families. This space will serve as a waiting room, counselling room and a quiet area for the recovery from anaesthetics. It will provide a much needed separate facility for teenage patients, who obviously don’t want to be with children or adults and need the latest technology available. • New recliner chairs for our chemotherapy Day Ward in line with infection control and comfort. • Funding for a new service across the Network – Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation Swallow (FEES) which will be of great benefit to all head and neck patients and all patients with swallow difficulties. The Friends will continue to support Oakland Lodge our “home from home” for patients who travel long distances for treatment. Oakland Lodge has some accommodation, which provides for a family member or friend to stay also, which is a great comfort during a possibly stressful time. It is a wonderful facility and has been completely funded by our supporters and fundraisers. It is with the help of people like you, voluntary fundraisers who give generously of their time and energy, that we continue to fundraise for St Luke’s to ensure the full range of services continue to be available to all the patients who attend the St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network. Our aim is to support our patients in whatever way possible, as they go through their cancer journey and to create a warm and welcoming environment. We are truly grateful for your wonderful ongoing support and interest in our cause; which is deeply appreciated by all who benefit. Please continue to keep safe and well.

As we approach the mid term break we may be reflecting on the fact that we have spent several weeks teaching and learning remotely having not welcomed each other back to school after the Christmas holidays as we normally would. Right now we can not be together in the Cross and Passion College building but we are still connected to each other in so many ways. We are a Community regardless of location. I hope the videos in the links below unite us in our celebration of our wonderful Cross and Passion College Community. At the heart of these videos are our Students and School Staff celebrating all that connects and unites us together. So as you shortly take a much deserved break remember that you are part of a caring and supportive community and together we can do so much. Thank you to all those who have contributed to these videos. A special thank you to Mr O'Toole, Conor Wilkins of Wilkins Sound Systems and team for the beautiful music. and montage. Dear students and parents/guardians, please see below an urgent message received this afternoon from the SEC: As you are aware the Candidate Self Service Portal (CSSP) opened on Tuesday last to allow Leaving Certificate candidates to review and confirm their level selection and their choices of examinations, Accredited Grades or both for the 2021 Leaving Certificate for each subject in which they are entered. The portal will close at 6pm this evening and there are approx. 15,000 candidates who have not yet confirmed their choices. It is essential that all candidates confirm their choices now, even if their choices haven’t changed. This is also the final opportunity to make changes to the levels selected for Accredited Grades during the registration process in March. After the portal closes at 6 PM this evening, the Accredited Grades levels will be locked in and cannot be changed by either candidates or schools.
