Seachtain na Gaeilge

"Chuir muid tús spleodrach le Seachtain na Gaeilge anseo i CPC an tseachtain seo caite leis an gcomórtas Poc Fada do Bhliain a 5 agus a 6. Ba mhór an spórt é agus chomhghairdeas leis na buaiteoirí.
Maith sibh do na daltaí a fuair féirín as an nGaeilge a úsáid.
Bígí ag faire amach do na himeachtaí a bheidh ar siúl an tseachtain seo.

"We kicked off a lively Seachtain na Gaeilge here in CPC last week with the Poc Fada Competition for 5th and 6th Year. It was great fun and we would like to congratulations the winners. As well as that, Ioads of Irish was heard and seen in the corridors amongst teachers and students alike.
TY students took part in a Quiz as Gaeilge. Well done to all the students who received prizes for using their Gaeilge.
Be on the look out for event taking place this week!
Remember, speak it and it will live!

Students and staff alike have had great fun celebrating World Book Week in CPC this week.

English classes had the opportunity to ‘guess the teachers shelfie’ and match the teacher to their baby photo and childhood book!

This has led to great intrigue and excitement for the winners to be revealed before the end of the week!
Schoolbooks for Junior Cycle students in Post-Primary Schools 2024/25

Dear parents/guardians,

you may have heard the very welcome announcement from government that a new scheme will be introduced from the start of the new school year 2024/25 where all schoolbooks and core classroom resources for students in Junior Cycle years in post-primary schools will be provided to students at no charge to parents/guardians.

This is obviously a tremendous support to parents/guardians as the costs can be significant. There is a lot of detail to be finalised and a lot of work for the school to undertake to implement this system and your patience is appreciated as we complete that work.

Attached is a letter from Norma Foley TD, Minister for Education.

We will keep parents/guardians updated in the coming months as the system is put in place.

Kind regards

J Leonard

It's Engineers Week in schools across the country and earlier in the week Mick Lavelle and Sean Hanley from local Engineering company Murphy Ireland (Infrastructure Specialists) visited CPC.

Mick and Sean spoke to our Senior Cycle students about Engineering as a profession, the type of work they do and the various routes into Engineering.

They also informed our students about the Graduate Entry Programme on offer with Murphy Ireland as well as the Civil Engineering Apprenticeship Programme being offered in conjunction with ATU, Sligo.

We appreciate the time given by both Mick and Sean to provide our students with such a valuable experience.

Le Cheile Day 2024- The Gift of Gratitude

Today, Wednesday 6th March 2024, marks Le Cheile day. The theme for this year is 'The Gift of Gratitude'.

At reception we have a display which includes some inspirational quotes of gratitude, benefits of gratitude and a tree whereby students in Religion classes were invited to write the things that they are grateful for.

Ms Groome's and Ms Wall's 5th year Religion classes hosted a successful coffee morning for the staff of CPC. This included hot drinks and sweet and yummy treats. Staff and students shared a lovely morning break.

1st and 2nd years were encouraged to write a letter to a person they are grateful for and why. This was a great opportunity for them to reflect on the people who have meaning to them.

Students were also asked to fill a google forms and name a teacher/staff member they are grateful for and why. Staff received these lovely words this morning.

Staff also got into the spirit of gratitude by expressing their thanks to each other.

Random acts of kindness are encouraged today to all in our school community! Do/say something nice for someone who means a lot to you.

Thank you to all who were involved in today's activities. A day of thanks, appreciation and feel-goodness was evident throughout the day!

Happy Le Cheile Day to all!
