The 5th year LCVP class are organising a 'Civies' day on Friday the 20th of November in aid of the Peter McVerry Trust in Co. Kildare and would greatly appreciate it if each student could contribute €2.00 for this very worthy cause. The student council will be collecting the money on Friday.
Also, secondary schools across the country are taking part in a campaign to generate awareness around the LGBTI+ community. We ask each student to incorporate the following colours into their outfits,
1st years-red
2nd years-orange
3rd year-yellow
4th year - green
5th year-blue
6th year- purple
Thank you

College Awareness Week 2020 Monday 23rd - Friday 27th November

Dear Parent/Guardian
To mark College Awareness Week 2020, the Guidance Department plan on raising awareness of the various college courses our past students have graduated from or are currently studying.
We hope to have an ‘Alumni Wall’ on display in various parts of the school building highlighting the multitude of courses in various Higher Education Institutions which our past students have undertaken.
We also plan on holding a live interactive webinar in which past students will talk to our current Senior Cycle students about their experiences of preparing for the Leaving Cert, choosing the right college course, mistakes they may have made along the way and advice for life in Third Level.
We are asking all past students who would like to get involved in either providing us with details of the course they studied/are studying or would like to be involved in the live event (or indeed would like to get more information about our plans) to contact us at either
denisdennehy@cpckilcullen.com or elainemcdonnell@cpckilcullen.com
So please spread the word to your own children that may be past students, nieces, nephews, neighbours etc.
We would be delighted to have as many past students involved as possible.
Thank you in advance

Christmas Shoebox Week

We are encouraging everyone to celebrate the Christmas Shoebox Appeal by building and donating their shoeboxes online. There has always been great support for this appeal in our school and we hope this year will be no exception. Due to the effects of COVID-19 restrictions it is not possible to send gift filled shoeboxes from Ireland this year so we’re asking you to donate gift-filled shoeboxes online. These donations will be used to purchase items for shoeboxes in Africa and Eastern Europe, which will be delivered straight into the hands of children affected by poverty. Remember every box counts and it can change a child’s world. Often these shoeboxes are the only gift that a child will receive and the joy that they deliver is incredible. The website is teamhope.ie
Thank you

Dear parents/guardians and students,
on the school calendar in the student journal you may have noticed that next Tuesday, 10th November, a Junior Cycle for Teachers Cluster Training Day was scheduled.
Normally on these days teachers from schools in the area receive training together and there are no classes for students. We have been notified by the JCT they are unable to proceed with this day of training at the moment due to the Covid-19 restrictions. They have advised that we will be given a new date as soon as possible. I will inform you of that date as soon as I have it.
In the meantime, please note there will be school as normal on Tuesday 10th November.
Kind regards

Update ahead of return to school

Good evening all,
I hope you have had a good weekend and everybody enjoyed the mid term break.
You might have seen reports in the media about further recalls of products originally on the approved list of sanitiser products issued by the DES for use in schools.
The hand sanitiser in the sanitising stations in the school was amongst that list of products. While there is no indication there is anything wrong with the sanitiser the advice issued was to withdraw it until further notice.
As a result all sanitiser stations have been emptied over the weekend and filled with an alternative approved product ahead of our return tomorrow.
In addition some wipes used by staff have also been removed from use.
There was over 50 products withdrawn from use and thankfully all other products we use remain on the updated approved list.
I look forward to seeing all students again tomorrow.
Kind regards
J Leonard

Dear parents/guardians/students,
please find attached a pdf document that teachers used with students before mid term break. It is a really straightforward reminder of some of the important Covid signs as well as steps to minimise the risk of the spread of the virus.
I would really appreciate it if you could spend a few moments going through the basics once again as we prepare to return to school tomorrow.
Kind regards

Good morning all,
last night at 10.45pm an email was sent to the school from the DES concerning a product recall notice on ViraPro hand sanitiser PCS100409.
This morning understandably the media are carrying reports on this.
I want to reassure you that we have NOT been using this product in CPC and school will operate as normal today.
Thank you for your continued support.
