St Declan’s College competed in the ‘Brother At Your Side’ event in Santry Demesne today, 7 October 2015. 15 pupils competed in total. First up, was the Minor race with 7 students from first year taking part. The race started off well with over 120 people competing in it. Sean Donoghue pulled away from everyone else with 600m's to go to claim gold. Other students competing were Ian Lawlor, Conor Murphy, Brian Conroy, Jack Simpson, Killian Corcoran and Max Cleary who all did very well. Next was the Junior race. Conor Hanley, David Dunne, Boris Serken, Pablo Silva and Martin Matsekh competed in this race. Some found it tough, but everyone tried their best. The second last race of the day was the Intermediate event which was by far the most interesting race. Daire Finn battled in the top 3 for all of the race until he pulled away with 300m's to go. Jack Jackson also ran in this event. The final race of the day was the Senior event with Cristi Prunaru and Akilu Abreham competing. Cristi did well . Unfortunately, Akilu was pushed during the race and had to pull out. Well done to everyone who competed today. By training every Thursday, students can inprove their fitness and pace.
