Family Carer & Young Carer of the Year Awards
Created : 18 Oct 2022, 3:31 PM
Archived : 22 Oct 2022, 1:00 AM

Family Carers Ireland is calling on the public to help shine a light on Ireland’s forgotten frontline by nominating a family carer or young carer they know for this year’s Netwatch Family Carer & Young Carer of the Year Awards.

Now in their 15th year, the awards seek to honour the extraordinary work of all family carers and young carers across the country.

There are over 67,000 children between the ages of 10 and 17 providing regular care to a loved one in the home. Many do not see themselves as being young carers. They think of themselves as a family member, a brother, a sister, a son, or a daughter and can presume that all families provide this sort of support. As a result, they often don’t realise that there is help available to them.

The national charity representing Ireland’s family carers says that more must be done to ensure that family carers and young carers are not only recognised for their immense contribution, but truly supported to care safely at home.

Simply fill in the nomination form below, giving as much detail as to why the family carer/young carer should be recognised for an award.  Closing date is this Friday 21st October 2022.

Kind regards,
