Senior boys GAA match win!

The Senior boys GAA team had a great start to the year in a tense, high scoring game versus Enniscrone on a scoreline of 5-16 to 5-8 in favour of the home team. The game started with an end to end affair in the first 20 minutes. Enniscrone made the better of their attacks in the first half, with Enniscrone having the advantage heading into the second half 4-6 to 2-6.

Ballymote came to the forefront in the early stages of the second half, taking control of the game with off the shoulder running and quick transition of the ball from defence to attack. Hard work throughout the team along with a numerical  advantage allowed Colaiste Muire to power through in the final moments of the game.

The team will now go through to the next round, in which they will face Carrigallon in an away fixture.

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

Our 3rd year Student-Parent-Teacher Meetings will take place on Tuesday 29th November from 4.15pm.  Your child will attend these meetings with you as per school practice of having 3rd year students attend parent-teacher meetings.

In total, your child's meetings will take approximately one hour and will begin between 4.15pm and 6.15pm.  School will finish at 3.40pm for all students on this date.

We have 71 students in 3rd year and thus meetings with each teacher should not exceed 5 minutes.  Please be mindful of this when you are attending so that all parents and students have time with their relevant teachers.  Please reply via the school App or by email to principal@cmbm.ie before Thursday 24th November if you CANNOT attend or if there is a particular time needed for you to attend the parent-teacher meeting so that we can allow for smooth scheduling for all who can attend.  Non-reply will assume attendance.

Your meeting schedule will issue to your child on Tuesday afternoon 29th November and all meetings will be held in the school gymnasium.

Kind regards,

Michelle McDermott

Our TY students along with the help of Ms Greene held a bake sale on Tuesday 27th of September to raise funds for the Christmas Shoebox appeal. A huge effort from those who organised and baked and from those who supported allowed a whopping €700 to be raised!

The TY students will use the proceeds to buy box fillers and will donate the completed boxes to the Ballymote appeal later. They will also donate their time by helping organise all the boxes donated in Ballymote.

Well done all on a fantastic result!

TY Update

Our 36 TY students had a great start to their year in fabulous weather with a Surfing trip to Strandhill.  This was followed by a treetop adventure in Zipit Forest Park last Thursday.  A great day was had by all.

TYs hosted a very successful bake sale today 27th September in aid of the Shoebox Appeal.  Through our very generous school population much needed funds were raised for this worthy cause.

Some of our TY mentors will be accompanying the first year students on their bonding tour on Thursday.

On Friday our TYs will be participating in ‘New Voices’, a playwriting programme with facilitator Miriam Needham.

Their next adventure will take place next Tuesday 4th October when they will journey to Sligo by train to visit the Model Niland Gallery and Sligo Abbey.

Following this will be another adventure to Sligo by train on Thursday 20th October to see comedian Ger Carey perform his live comedy show at Sligo Southern Hotel.

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

We look forward to Junior Cycle results day tomorrow, Wednesday 23rd November as our current TY and 5th year students obtain their long-awaited results.  As per school tradition, TY and 5th year students will have no school on Wednesday 23rd.  TY students should discuss this with their place of work experience if they wish to have the day free.  Students will have two options to obtain their results:

1. Login to the student portal at www.examinations.ie using the unique PIN number which has been provided to them this morning. Those not in school today have received their PIN on Teams.

2. Visit the school from 2pm to collect results from Ms. McNamee's classroom.  A parent/guardian must accompany the student if opting to collect results from the school.

Students will have school on Thursday 24th November as normal. We advise all students to take care when celebrating and to stay safe.

Go n-eirí on t-ádh libh go léir.
