TY Letters to Care Choice Residents!

A beautiful selection of letters written by TYs are en route to the residents in Care Choice Nursing Home. Monday morning at 9am during Ms McGann's Yearhead class the idea was born to send a letter for Christmas to the residents in Care Choice. The burning question was "what will we write" Students were given the instruction to keep it simple, cheerful, and sincere. Try to have words that are optimistic and uplifting. Maybe include a memory or life experience that triggers a smile or chuckle. This initiative demonstrates a small act of kindness by the TYs. We hope that the letters may make a big difference to someone else’s life. We all need a little sunshine in our lives and sometimes we know others could use a little extra especially at Christmas. Well done TYs.

TY students have nearly arrived at the end of term and are looking forward to a long, well-earned rest and time with their families during Christmas. At 12.35pm all TY students went to St Monica's Chapel where Fr Gerry administered the Sacrament of Penance saying: May the Almighty and merciful Lord grant us pardon, absolution and remission of our sins. By his authority, I absolve you from your sins, in the name of the Father, + and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. He also spoke to the students about Christmas how it is a time for giving and not simply a day we exchange gifts. The spirit of Christmas is in the 'togetherness', it's in the thought to which you put into thinking about others, it's a selfless time, where we forgive, take stock of what's important and become 'better' versions of ourselves. The Advent wreath and Advent season was discussed how it is a time of preparation for our hearts and minds for the anniversary of the Lord’s birth on Christmas. Students were very still during their time in the Chapel and welcomed time out from the busyness of their school day.
