Dear Parents/Guardians,
Like all other schools in the country, we have issues with anti-social behaviour, including vaping in our toilet facilities. We believe that every student has the right to feel safe and be free from intimidation when they need to use the toilets. Consequently, we have strict rules regarding the use of toilets throughout the day, to safeguard all students, particularly 1st Years.
1. Students must have written permission in their journal by their teachers to be out of class for any reason.
2. Only First Year students are permitted to use the First Year toilets. Other students caught in these toilets will be given a morning detention.
3. At break and lunch time, students are to use the toilets in their own resource area. They are not permitted to use toilets in another area. If they are found to be using the toilets in another area, they will be given a morning detention.
4. During break and lunch time, large groups of students are not permitted to eat their lunch or congregate in the toilets. Students doing so will be given a morning detention.
5. During class time, students from 2nd-6th Year must use the 6th Year toilets. The 6th Year boys’ toilets are individual cubicles and the girls’ toilets are next to the main office and closely monitored. Again, only First Year students are allowed to use the First Year toilets.
6. If the toilets are busy, students must queue outside in the corridor.
7. Students who are in breach of these rules on more than one occasion will be suspended.
All students have been made aware of these rules by their Yearheads and tutors and we would appreciate your continued support on this matter.
Kind regards,
Sinéad Ronan
