CAO Change of Mind opens today May 5th VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Created : 05 May 2023, 9:55 AM
Archived : 05 Jul 2023, 12:00 AM

A reminder to parents and 6th yr students that CAO change of mind reopens today and allows for changes to your CAO college application course lists -                                                                                                                                                                                            This clip explains the process -         youtu.be/hB-5Igv4ZsM

Please see one of the Guidance Counsellors for assistance and to clarify any queries you may have.

Parents, please be aware many students have no courses added to their CAO application - please check and work with your son/daughter to ensure their course lists are filled in.

 Things to remember -

                                  * This Change of Mind facility is open until JULY 1st - amend your lists now but  you also have a week after the Leaving Cert finishes to finally amend your lists

                                 * You can add, remove or change the order of courses on your lists (you cannot add restricted courses at this stage)

                                 * Please fill both lists to a total of 20 courses - over a range of points and ensure you have thoroughly researched all courses before adding them to your list - if in any doubt -  ask a Guidance Counsellor for help

                                 * Check the Alert lists on www.cao.ie to see if the course is still offered or if any entry requirements have changed etc...

                                 * MOST IMPORTANTLY - LIST THE COURSES IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE - THE COURSE YOU REALLY WANT GOES IN PLACE NUMBER 1, THE COURSE YOU WANT IF YOU DID NOT GET NO. 1 GOES IN PLACE 2 AND SO ON DOWN BOTH LISTS - ALWAYS IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE

                                * DO NOT EVER PUT DOWN ANY COURSE JUST TO FILL A SPACE - YOU COULD GET AN OFFER FOR THAT COURSE AND YOU MAY NOT HAVE RESEARCHED IT THOROUGHLY - NEVER ADD FILLER COURSES FOR THE SAKE OF IT

                                * You are advised to bring your list to the Guidance Counsellors who will go through it with you and check it for you.

                                 * We will meet with all 6th yr students next week to explain  CAO offers, accepting  a course and deferral.

Thank you, The  Guidance Team
