Naas CBS Canal Clean Up

Transition Year
On Tuesday last class 4F undertook a ‘Canal Clean Up’ in Naas.
With the help of Elaine the owner of Naas Adventure Centre 10 students got into kayaks armed with nets and litter pickers to pull five refuse sacks of rubbish from the Limerick Road branch of the Grand Canal at Naas. The five sacks of rubbish contained mainly bottles, cans, clothing and other rubbish. There were also three footballs, a shopping trolley and two traffic cones taken from the water.
While the students in kayaks fished out the rubbish ten students walking alongside them along the canal banks placed it all in refuse sacks.
Teachers, Mr. Noone and Mr Coy were co-ordinating the project.
Elaine from Naas Adventure Centre provided the kayaks, wet suits, life jackets and the expertise and instruction.
Councillor Bill Clear of Naas tidy towns provided the litter pickers and sacks.
Ted Johnson’s of Naas very kindly sponsored 40 high viz jackets which the students will use throughout the year.
It was a wonderful example of community work and many more Canal Clean Ups are planned in the future.
Many thanks to Elaine, Bill Clear and Stella Johnson.
Great work and well done to all the students in class 4F.
Thanks to our student Jamie Moore for the fantastic photos.
Permission for School Matches

Dear Parents & Guardians,
Earlier today our school was playing a senior soccer match in Naas. Up to 150 of our students attended as supporters without permission from the school. While some parents did send in permission via the app the school had not granted any permission for the students to leave classes today.
As a result, our students were unsupervised for the duration of the match and when traveling to and from the game.
We will notify parents prior to match days if students can attend. We have a huge extra-curricular programme in Naas CBS and cannot have our students attending all of these games during key tuition time.
We would really appreciate your support in regards to this.
Many thanks,
The Management Team
Reminder - Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal
Created : 12 Oct 2021, 4:14 PM
Archived : 04 Jan 2022, 12:00 AM
Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
This year our school will be taking part in Team Hope's Christmas Shoe-box Appeal. The organisation provides a service in which children all around the world get to experience the joys of Christmas.
The theme for this year’s appeal is #MakeAChildSmile and aims to encourage people to think about the single impact, joy and smile that a shoe-box brings to the child who receives it.
To get involved all you have to do is find an empty shoe-box, wrap it in Christmas paper and fill it with gifts for a boy or girl aged between 2 and 14, attach a €4 donation and bring it to school before the deadline of Friday, November 12th. A flyer will be given to each student during their religion classes this week or students can collect a flyer in room 1/28.
Please drop boxes to Mr. Warren in Room 1/28
When considering items that are best to gift, think of the 4W’s:
Wear – Gloves, Hat, Scarf, Socks, Top, Underwear
Wash – Comb, Soap, Sponge, Toothbrush & Toothpaste, Washcloth
Write – Colouring Pencils, Notepad, Writing accessories
Wow – Fun Trinkets, Musical Toys, Puzzles, Soft toy, Ball, fun Sunglasses
Many thanks to Mr. Warren and the Religion Department for their work and organisation for this wonderful initiative.
