Congratulations to 5th Year Student Killian Burke who was selected by Naas Rotary Club to represent the club and Naas schools in the Rotary Youth Leadership Development Competition. Killian displays wonderful leadership and intrinsic motivation though his contributions to school life and the community of Naas. He helps out with the Junior Cross Country Team in Naas CBS, works with Tidy Towns, reads at mass in Naas Parish and took up Spanish lessons outside of school. Killian so thoughtfully wrote letters to the residents of local nursing homes to help them feel connected during the lockdowns. This summer, Killian did a charity skydive and raised €1000 for Unicef Ireland. This money was used to administer double vaccinations to 300 people in Africa. Through his work and contributions to the Naas community, Killian achieved the Bronze Gaisce Award during Transition Year and is now working towards his Silver Gaisce Award. Killian was also awarded the Silver Pope John Paul II Award in October. Killian is a most pleasant and mannerly young man in his interactions with others and a great role model for his peers in Naas CBS. We wish Killian the very best as he represents Naas at the Zone Finals of the Rotary Leadership Development Competition.

Match report by Ms. Houlihan: Well done to Naas CBS Junior Rugby team who comprehensively defeated High School yesterday in Naas Rugby Club. Minutes into the match High School intercepted a pass in the middle of the field and ran in under the posts. A conversion and a penalty soon after, meant Naas found themselves 10 down before they had even settled. Thankfully, the team kept their heads despite going down to 14 for 10 minutes. They made their way up the field forcing High School to give away penalties. Jack Osbourne capitalised with his boot, reducing the lead to 4. Continued pressure and teamwork from Naas, allowed Joe Dwyer to drive forward and force the ball down over the line. This was then followed by a fantastic run up the line by Charlie Croke who touched down near the posts, which was easily converted by Jack Osbourne. Great defending off the line meant Naas held off going into halftime. Halftime score: Naas CBS 18 - High School 10 Naas came out in the second half fighting hard and were rewarded by another super try by Joe Dwyer. More tries from Darragh Culligan (2), Conor Butler and Charlie Croke meant there was no way back for High School. Fresh legs off the Naas bench solidified the Naas performance which was capped off by a superb weaving run in by Jake Bourke to finish off the match. Final Score: Naas CBS 56 - High School 10. Thank you Ms. Joyce, Mr. Warren and Mick Cahill (CCRO) for your support and expertise. Thanks also to the Leinster ref Philip O’Brien, to the touch judges and to Naas RFC for facilitating the match. Naas CBS Team: Philip Sammon, Harry Dunne (Captain), Joe Dwyer (2 tries), Darragh Brownen, Charlie Morrissey, Conor Butler (1 try), Zach Carvel, Jack Dempsey, Cillian Power, Cian McKevitt, Charlie Croke (2 tries), Darragh Culligan (2 tries), Jack Osborne (2 penalties & 5 conversions), Jack Byrne, Darragh O’Boyle, Ruadh Curran, Scott Cooke, Patrick Clear, Padraic Quinn, Jack Mullins, Dara Cooke, Jake Bourke (1 try), Philip Byrne, Rian Scully, Max Rosen. Super well done to all the players.
