This year has been a challenging year for everybody, but especially the homeless. PATH (Portlaoise Action To Homelessness), have worked tirelessly since 2015 to help those stepping rough in Dublin and Portlaoise. Our 6th Year LCA class have launched an appeal for donations to help PATH continue their outstanding work. They have placed a box in each base classroom and are looking for donations of the following items: •deodorant (roll on only) •sanitary products •face cloths •travel sized toiletries •cuppa soup •baby wipes •non-perishable foods •white socks •tooth paste and toothbrush •hair brush •hand sanitiser •tissues •covid masks If each student could bring in one item, we will have enough to create care packages, which PATH can deliver to those who need them. All donations to be placed in the box by December 16th. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Leinster Express LaoisToday Laois Nationalist

Christmas Toy Appeal

This year the Coiste Cineáltais/Kindness Committee have embarked on a new Christmas adventure after the brilliant success of last year's Book Collection for the Peter McVerry Trust. For 2020 we are asking the community to donate brand new toys that we will distribute to families that need them. Our Committee know that toys are not just toys at this time of year; we all believe that they are magic and every child needs an extra bit of magic this year. We want to give them presents that they will love and cherish and we need your help to do this. We will have a collection point in school and our Committee will be busy bees over the next few weeks arranging for all the presents to get to their best homes. We will be connecting with St. Vincent de Paul, the primary schools in our locality and a number of other community based organisations to ensure that these toys make their way to very excited children. Already, Christmas has come early with our Parents Council leading the way in showing generosity and kindness. They have donated €500 to start us on our endeavours and we are so grateful for their support in this. So we hope that our students and parents can help to help others this Christmas - either by donating or by sharing our appeal with your neighbours, friends and family.
