It was a Merry week at OLS!

Staff and students were looking very festive on Thursday. Students modelled their best Christmas jumpers during lunchtime. They were met with loud cheers as they walked down the runway set up in the GPA. Well done!

From headbands, to bath bombs and sweets there was a great selection of items to purchase at the Transition Year and 2nd Year Enterprise Fair on Thursday. Perfect for last-minute Christmas shopping! Well done to everyone on the wonderful creations!

Well done to the 5th Year Irish classes who took part in an Irish singing competition in the lecture theatre yesterday!

A massive thank you to the entire OLS community, including the parent's council, for organising the holiday raffle. Well done to all the winners.

The Christmas Quiz and House Celebration was a huge success. Well done to everyone involved and showing the community spirit.

We had a very successful Carol Ceremony Friday afternoon with performances from the choir, the first year music class, and staff. It was a joyous event with lots of singing and clapping! The theme of the ceremony this year was, "No matter how different a Who may appear, they will always be welcomed with holiday cheer." A very well done to C5 for organising and to all the singers, musicians and staff who were involved in organising this tremendous occasion.

We would like to wish you all a wonderful, peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year from everyone at OLS!

‘Twas the week before Christmas and all through the school,

raffle tickets were being sold in time for the yule,

with TV and Chromebook and vouchers galore,

the hampers were heaving, no room for much more.

With gifts all a plenty from generous shops,

we can boast that our raffle will surely be tops,

with pharmacy goods, some treats and nice biscuits,

nail salons or coffee, even hotel stay visits.

There’s something for everyone, the whole of the family,

to use and enjoy or stick under the Christmas tree,

festive spirits are covered with plenty of wine,

or one of our vouchers for places to dine.

Now Dasher, now Dancer, now Prancer and Vixen!

On Comet, on Cupid on Donner and Blitzen!

Your sleigh will not challenge the pressies we’ve mustered

Like chocolates, nice mince pies, plum puddings (no custard!)

There’s One for All vouchers and vouchers for all,

if you’re buying a ticket, go quick, don’t you stall,

the draw is on Thursday, when the lunch bell is struck

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL BEST OF LUCK!

Hockey
A busy week for hockey in Our Lady's this week. On Wednesday, our Minor 1 team continued on their excellent form when they welcomed Sion Hill to Our Lady's in the league. The girls were rarely troubled and ran up 6 goals to win the game by 6-0. Well done girls, another clean sheet and a super goalscoring performance.
On Thursday, there was great excitement at OLS as our Junior 1 team welcomed Newpark Comprehensive to Our Lady's in the Leinster schools Junior Cup for a thrilling first round tie. Despite a strong start, the girls found themselves trailing 2-0 at the mid way point of the second half. With time ticking away, the girls scored a super first goal on the counter attack with just 4 minutes left on the clock. This was quickly followed up with the equalising goal with 3 minutes left to play. A quick restart and the girls won the ball back again and but for a super save by the Newpark goalie, we would have won the game in normal time after a fantastic late rally. The game went to 1 v 1 shoot outs and after 5 attempts each the score was tied at 1-1. Sudden death! A clinical first effort from Our Lady's and a super piece of goalkeeping ensured that we came out on top and now go through to the next round! Well done to all pf the girls on a resilient and determined performance. A special mention too for all of the staff and students who came out to support and made a massive difference as the noise on the sidelines was superb!
Camogie
A huge congratulations to our Junior camogie team who are now in the Dublin Junior A championship final. In an end to end game, the girls put in another brilliant performance to win by a scoreline of 5-5 to 3-4 against St Mary's Naas. Well done to all!
