We would like to inform you of two upcoming events for 5th year students. Firstly, on Monday 27th March 2017, the students will visit UCD and attend a information session and tour of the campus from 10am to 12pm. In the afternoon the students will attend a two hour seminar on motivation and career skills given by Mr. James Sweetman. Secondly a Careers Night, run in conjunction with the Parent’s Council, will take place for all 5th year students on Tuesday 4th April 2017 from 7.30 to 9.30pm. Students will receive more information about this event shortly. The purpose of this event is to allow our students the opportunity to meet and talk to people from a number of different professions in order to assist them with their career research. It is a valuable opportunity to explore and research various career areas, helping students to make informed college applications next year. If you have any queries about these events do not hesitate to contact us. The Guidance Department.

Tomorrow is World Book Day! All first years and staff will be dressing up as book characters to celebrate, as well as continuing with our Readathon to raise money for Barnardos. The deadline for the Readathon is Monday 6th so we have five more days to track how much we read and get sponsorship. There is a box for new book donations in reception, all donations will go to disadvantaged children via Barnardos. Really looking forward to seeing all the costumes tomorrow!

The 20th ever World Book Day is falling on Thursday the 2nd of March. To celebrate, the library is running a Read-a-thon in aid of Barnardos. If you don't already have your Sponsor sheet for the Read-a-thon you can download from the library website here ourladyslibrary.wordpress.com/2017/02/17/world-book-day-countdown/ They are available in the library and at reception as well. There is also the option for anyone who wants (both staff and students) to bring in a book(s) in new or like new condition to donate to Barnardos for children in need. There will be a donation box in reception when we come back after midterm. Another super exciting way that we will be celebrating is by having all first years and staff dress up as book characters on the day! I can't wait to see what everyone's costumes are going to be! There will be prizes for the best costumes on the day. Happy reading and happy midterm! :)
