The very best of luck to Ellen Walshe who is representing Ireland in swimming at World School Games.
Ellen flew to Casablanca in Morrocco this afternoon where the games are taking place. The swimming element of games will take place next weekend.
We will all be cheering Ellen on as she makes the school proud!

On Saturday 5th May the TY Entrepreneurs will have a stall at Bushy Park Market. They will be selling the "Jar Full of Joy". This is an attractively packaged recycled jar containing the ingredients and instructions for making a delicious batch of cookies/brownies
.
You can support in two ways
1) Come along on the day to shop
2) Donate an empty glass jar to be "up-cycled" (jars 500g or larger with lids). These can be left in a box in reception.

Congratulations to Alisha Shanagher (P4) who today won the Opinion Category in Press Pass, a national TY journalism competition. Press Pass received 10,000 entries this year and shortlisted 3 writers in five categories. Alisha came 1st in her category with a powerful and contemporary piece entitled Me Too. She was presented her award by Minister for Education, Richard Bruton, at a ceremony in Twitter Ireland MC-ed by prominent journalist, Matt Cooper. You will be able to read Alisha’s piece in the school magazine in a few weeks’ time!

Today is National Poetry Day. People across Ireland will celebrate poetry by finding surprise poems in the most unlikely of places. P1 students have been planting some secret surprise poems around school to mark the occasion. Why not surprise your friends and family with an impromptu rhyme or two? (Or you could just read a bit of Heaney)
History says, Don’t hope
On this side of the grave…
But then, once in a lifetime
The longed-for tidal wave
Of justice can rise up,
And hope and history rhyme.
So hope for a great sea-change
On the far side of revenge.
Believe that a further shore
Is reachable from here.
Believe in miracles
And cures and healing wells.
