A team of our OLS Staff came together last week for the inaugural Restorative Us team meeting. This core team of staff will come together regularly to learn and reflect, as they implement the principles of Restorative Practice in OLS.

TY
TY’s had a fantastic week this week with the highlight being their Bonding Day! The week kicked off with the announcement of the great TY Bake Off! Students are signing up to go head to head showcasing their culinary skills after Mid Term. Our Enterprise classes held their Enterprise Fair on Wednesday morning for TY and 1st year students. Some of the products on sale included: Specialty Sweet Tubes, Homemade body scrubs, keyrings, care packages, Halloween surprise bags, hot chocolate pockets, brownie mix and twisted candles. Thursday saw all TY students enjoy a pre Halloween spooktastic treat at the National Wax Museum. They also ventured out to Carrickmines to enjoy an experience with a difference. They challenged themselves, each other and their teachers around the whopping 29 unique challenges in GoQuest Arena. Friday finished off with our inaugural TY Table Tennis Tournament match between none other than TY’s very own Ms. Nolan and one of our fantastic TY Reps Jennifer Power. While a superb come back was made, students are currently in the lead! Reps have once again been busy organising their career months where TY students hope to invite parents/guardians/relatives in (virtually) to let us walk in their shoes. Work Experience planning is over and Block 1 is finally here! All TY students will engage in work experience starting next Monday. They will reflect on their experiences each day. We wish them all the best and look forward to hearing all their news after Mid Term. Last but not least for those who have signed up for Barista Training, Sign Language and Run In The Dark, the links are now up on easy payments.

The Digital Champions

The Digital Champions visited the Second and First year Form classes again this week to raise awareness about watching videos online. Their theme was 'The Full Picture' inspired by Webwise which is an excellent resource for both students and parents regarding how to stay safe online. The Digital Champions focused on the importance of having a critical eye when engaging with material online and being able to identify fact from fiction especially when following 'influencers' or other media personalities. During their pairwork session, some astute Second years observed that 'What you see online is two minutes of that person's life, but what's going on in the other 24 hours? It is probably completely different to how they appear online'. Keep up the insightful engagement First and Second Years! Well done Digital Champions!
Hockey Socks

Hockey socks which were pre-ordered and paid for will be available for collection on Friday 15th October after school at the arch. There will be a small number of socks available for sale (€10). Please bring exact change.
Pumpkin Painting

This week in the Library students had the chance to paint pumpkins! The best two won a prize, In first place we have Róisín Mcgrane and Eimear Boylan and in second place we have Rachel Stevenson and Cathrine Byrne. Make sure to look through the Gallery to see the winning pumpkins. It was a huge success and all students thoroughly enjoyed it.

Congratulations to the TY Enterprise classes who had a successful morning selling their products to the first and 4th years. The atmosphere in St. Joseph’s hall was fantastic. Their hard work definitely paid off.
CAO Virtual Information Evening

Tuesday, 19 October 2021 from 7pm - 8.15pm An information evening for students, parents and guardians in association with CAO, the Institute of Guidance Counsellors and the National Parents Council post-primary. The evening's agenda will include presentations from representatives of CAO, IGC and the National Parents Council post-primary.
