The 3 week Admissions window for applications for 1st Year 2022 that have not been received to date opens from Friday 1st October 2021- Fri 22nd October 2021. If any siblings of current students in OLS have not already made a prior application you must do so during the 3 week Admissions window. Please note the school will cease accepting applications from Friday 22nd October 2021 @ 4.00pm. A reminder that all 1st Years will be attending a study skills workshop during school time on Monday 4th October. There will be a remote session for parents regarding supporting your daughter in her learning and study journey that evening at 7pm. A link will be sent nearer the time, but please save the date! This week is Banned Books Week (September 26-October 2, 2021), it is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Pop by the library and see what books you may have been banned from reading over the years if you had lived in a different time or country!

Cooking club got off to a fantastic start yesterday. 2nd & 3rd years made Brownies with the help of some TYs. The smells from the kitchens were fabulous!! Great work girls! Make sure to look through the gallery to see the girls in action!

TY Development Day

Today our TY's were kept busy. TY1 were in Phoenix Park doing a treasure hunt on bikes followed by 1916 walking tour. TY2 went on a retreat in town. TY3 had a broadcasting workshop in school which was great fun and TY4 did their First Aid course, not only was this great fun but they also learned valuable life long skills. Today our TY 1s had a creative writing workshop. It was great fun for all the students, and they all learned great new tips and tricks on how to improve their creative writing.

The TYs had a great 1st day out on Monday with their hike and have been busy this week signing up for Gaisce, Toastmasters, Sign Language, etc. Please check in with your daughter to see what she has signed up for. All application forms are on the TY Google Classroom and she can register for Gaisce on www.gaisce.ie. You can see some of our TYs in the pics doing their community involvment through Maths Club with the 1st Years! Our new TY Coordinator, Ms Phelan, met with the girls today to explain their next day out, Tuesday, a TY Development Day. On a Development Day, each class does a different activity. All classes will do the same activities over the course of the year, just in a different order. On Tuesday, TY 3 & 4 are doing workshops in school and TY 1 & 2 are doing tours in town. Details & instructions are attached. Please be aware that the students going to town must get themselves there in the morning and home afterwards. Also next week, TY1 are doing a workshop called Fighting Words on Monday afternoon and Toastmasters is starting for the first group on Thursday. It's all go!
