On Friday, we finished off Geography week with a bang. Students brought in their 3D models for display. As always, there was such a wide variety of student work and collaboration on show. We saw some amazing talent from students with models ranging from Earthquakes, volcanoes, the Earth's core, a rainforest and a South pole habitat and Earth cake pops! Well done to everyone who participated!

What another exciting and busy week it has been for our TY’s!
This week saw the announcement of our annual TY Trip to Carlingford. This trip is one of the highlights of the TY year. Students take part in a wide variety of outdoor activities that focus on promoting communication, leadership and team building skills. It is a wonderful opportunity for the girls to get to know each other and to forge bonds with other students before they progress into Senior Cycle. The trip plays a key role in reaffirming the positive tone set during this year of personal challenge, adventure and social development. Easy Payments Plus is now live to pay the deposit.
TY3 and TY4 had the opportunity this week to plant their Spring Bulbs. November is remembrance month, and during our bulb planting Ms. Redmond, our school Chaplain, took a few moments with the students to remember those who have passed away both this year and years gone by. These trees and the bulbs students have sewn have become a symbol of their transition year experience and students' growth as a class. We look forward to seeing the fabulous decorations they have in store for the Christmas period. TY1 and TY2 will have the opportunity to plant their bulbs next week.
Our noses were twitching with excitement on Wednesday afternoon as our first ever Great TY Bake Off took place under the watchful eyes of Ms. McHale and Ms. Treacy. This week students blindly set up their stations before weighing out their ingredients and only then being advised of their challenge. Ms. Ronan and Ms. G. Byrne had the exciting task of tasting all the students' brownies before announcing the winners of round one. Next week each student will engage in the showstopper challenge, hoping to take away the coveted title of Great TY Bake Off Champion. Excitement is building especially amongst the hungry judges! It’s all to bake for!
As darkness fell on Thursday evening, and the ‘Beaver Moon’ shone bright, a number of our TY students participated in ‘Run in The Dark’ in aid of the Mark Pollock Trust. After lapping the school Ms. Hallissey and Ms. Phelan together with TY students and Senior Hockey players trotted into Bushy Park. Students brightened up the park dressed like flashing Christmas Trees as they ran or walked their 5km. It was fantastic to see so many students be a part of this social and charitable initiative that crosses 7 continents, aiming to cure paralysis in our lifetime.
As preparation mounts for the TY Christmas Craft Fair and ‘The Gifted Craft and Design Fair” in the RDS our TY Enterprise classes had their own workshop with our very own Ms. Shanley this week. They explored their creative sides and learned new skills, including pom pom making, wreath making and pot decorating. The classes really enjoyed the experience and are all set for their homemade Christmas gifts.
The week finished off on a high with our Nun’s Feast and House Celebration. Well done to all of those involved.
We also wish our Microsoft Product Managers the very best in their workshop next week and also those taking part in the Film Workshop this weekend as they support young adults with Downs Syndrome.
Next week will see another rotation for TY’s where they will get to try their hand at new and exciting Science modules, including: Ag. Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and CSI.
Last, but by no means least, next Friday sees our TY’s adventure continue with their second Development Day. All details will follow early next week.

Yesterday our arts and crafts club made bird feeders from plastic bottles, they all turned out great! It's fantastic to feed birds at this time of year as the weather gets colder. Remember all students can still sign up to the club in the library.
