Student Awards

It has been a pleasure over the past week or so to visit classes along with each Year Head of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th year to present some awards to the students to mark the end of the year.
It has been a challenging year in so many ways but the students have risen to each challenge and it was an opportunity to remind them of how well they have done.
As well as awards for cooperation, application to study and academic excellence we also recognised student leadership in the role of class captain and contribution to the student council..
Special mention to the winner of the Principal's Prize (an award presented to 3rd and 6th years only for their contribution to all aspects of school life) - the winner in 3rd year is Abbey MacNamara.
Congratulations to all award winners and to everybody for the resilience shown throughout this year.

CPC Musical - Covid style

It has been such a busy few weeks here in CPC as we move towards the end this academic year. So busy that I didn't have a chance to share some photos from the recent recording of the CPC TY musical pieces, outdoors at the community centre. It would have been so easy to say to the students this year that there would be no musical experience given the restrictions in place and the almost certainty that we would not be able to have our normal shows with audiences. But thanks to the determination of the whole team involved the students got to experience a very unique 'musical' this year.
I wonder in years to come what the future generations of CPC students will make of it all?
Well done to everybody involved and thanks also to the Parents' Association for their support in part financing the recording.

CPC woods are in Bloom.

The native bluebells planted by the staff in October are starting to flower. These were put in as part of our biodiversity initiative and with funding from the Kilcullen Credit Union. The hope is that they will develop into a lovely blue carpet like many of the woods in Kildare are famous for, and will be a further amenity for the school and town.
Attached are some beautiful photos of the bluebells taken by Ms. Higgins and some spectacular views from our small woods before the bluebells came into bloom taken by Mr. Potterton.
The public are more than welcome to take a walk in our small woods outside of school hours (9am-4pm) to enjoy the nature.
