Summer Assessments
Created : 13 May 2020, 3:27 PM
Archived : 13 Jul 2020, 12:00 AM
Dear Parent/Guardian of 3rd Year students,
I hope this email finds you safe and well.
Our latest newsletter is available here. As you are aware, assemblies have taken place over the last number of days in relation to the Summer Assessments for our students. Assessments will take place during the week of May 25th - May 29th. As previously notified, these assessments will contribute to the final grade of your son's Junior Cycle School Assessment Report. The procedure for taking these Summer Assessments is set out below:
- Students will receive a link to their Summer Assessment via their school email account. The link will be sent at the times highlighted in the assessment timetable below.
- The exam will remain open/live for 24 hours for the students to complete. This is to facilitate those who may not have access to devices during the school day.
- The exams will be approximately 1 hour in length (Some may be shorter depending on how much assessment has been done in particular subjects over the last number of weeks)
- The exams will be open book exams so students may use their books.
- Students need to ensure that they click the submit button at the very end of the assessment. If they do not click submit, their exam will not be registered for correction.
We have asked the students to remain calm if they encounter any difficulties with either accessing the link sent or in following any of the above steps. They have been asked to send an email to the email address where the link was sent from so that we can work to resolve any issues. As you will appreciate, this is both the schools and your son’s first time to carry out Summer Assessments this way and although we are all doing our best to ensure it works as smoothly and efficiently as possible, issues may arise. Should issues arise, we would ask for your patience and understanding in these unprecedented times.
We have received numerous queries in relation to the collection of books which may have been left in lockers. For safety reasons, the school is and will remain closed to students and Parents/Guardians. No student or parent/guardian will be allowed access to the school for the purpose of clearing out lockers. However, from next week, it will be possible for students to arrange an appointment to collect any books etc which have been left in lockers. If your son wishes to avail of this facility, you should email info@summerhillcollege.ie with your son’s name and locker number or locker key number. His locker will be emptied by a member of staff and the contents left in a bag with his name on it for collection. This bag can only be collected at the scheduled appointment time. For safety reasons, only a limited amount of appointments will be allocated on any given day. A collection point will be set up at the main entrance to the building.
Finally, I would ask that students who are going straight into 5th year next year register their core subject level choices and LCVP interest via the form we sent to your email account today.
Many thanks for your continued support,
If you have any queries email us here at info@summerhillcollege or phone 0860584733.
