Thank you to those students who have signed up to the surf club. We are still finalising numbers due to the staggered return to school. Once we have all application forms returned we will create a surf club list on the school VSWare platform and parents/guardians will be able to pay for the sessions on their son's VSWare account. This will happen early next week. As a result Monday's session is postponed. We will use the school app to communicate all information from next week so please ensure you have the app installed. See attached an application form for those who wish to sign up for surf club. Thank You.

Reopening Update

Dear Parent/Guardian, I hope this email finds you and yours well at this time and you have had a restful summer despite the weather! We are all living in and through strange times with every day bringing new advice and changes to how we live our lives. As you will understand and expect, we have to make significant changes to the way our school will run when we return. All of these changes stem from a need to protect all in our school insofar as is possible during this pandemic. You will also appreciate that the advice and guidance we have received has been changed and amended a number of times by the Department and we anticipate that the advice we get will continue to be updated as time moves on. We are doing our very best to fully comply with the advice that has been given and will continue to do so. Further to the recent text message which highlighted our return dates (see attached Calendar 2020/2021) I am writing to give you an update on the progress being made here in the college in order to provide a safe and sustainable return to school. 1. The Board of Management has assembled a Covid 19 Sub Committee with various experts to consult and give advice on the reopening of our school. 2. In order to limit the amount of movement throughout the school day, students have been assigned to base classrooms/corridors. 3. In order to adhere to the 1m physical distancing we have to reconfigure our classrooms. We also have had to decommission the use of student lockers. 4. In order to avoid congestion at the beginning and end of the school day, year groups will have different entry and exit points to the building. 5. Breaks will be staggered and students will remain in their classroom for most of their break times. They will be allowed out of their classroom to avail of the canteen facility which will continue to be available for all in the college. We will have three different time slots for break and lunchtimes. The slots will be designated floor by floor. This will be explained in further detail to students when they return. The timing of the small break and lunch has been altered which means it will not be possible for any student (including Seniors) to leave the campus during the day. 6. Visitors log - as per the response plan we will have a tracing system in place for visitors to the College. The current system in the college will incorporate the new HSE protocols. 7. In order to comply with the guidelines the school will no longer provide facilities for students to heat any food during break times. We have removed all microwaves from the GP Area. 8. Appointments - Anyone wishing to visit the college or meet with a member of staff must do so by making an appointment in advance. Finally, because of the changes to break times the new times for school will be: Monday - Thursday 8:55am - 3:45pm Friday 8:55am - 1:20pm The school's response plan is based on the Department of Education document which can be accessed here. We would ask you to continue to reinforce good hygiene practices with your son over the coming weeks and months, particularly in relation to coughing, sneezing and regularly washing/sanitising his hands. The longer we can keep the virus at bay, the more chance we have of remaining open to our students. We appreciate the changes outlined above will be added to and tweaked as advice changes but we continue to do our very best to ensure our safe and sustainable return to school in the coming weeks. Should you have any queries or questions at any stage please do not hesitate to make contact and we will respond as soon as possible. Regards, Paul Keogh CIC Principal
