Lisa Keegan Wins Galway Junior Maths Competition

Congratulations to 1st Year student Lisa Keegan who won the regional final of the Irish Junior Maths Competition organised by the IMTA. Lisa was the overall winner out of 36 students from 17 schools from all over Galway county. Lisa is pictured below with her proud Maths teacher Ms. McGrath.
Laura Wins 1st Prize in National Environmental Reporter Competition

Congratulations to 3rd Year student Laura Quinn who won 1st prize in the 2017 An Taisce Young Environmental Reporter competition. The result was announced at a special ceremony in Dublin on 28th April. 2nd Year student Yuliya Makarenko took 3rd prize in the competition. This is a great success for Taylors as there were a large number of entries from schools all over the country.
Green Schools Clean-Up

Well done to those students who volunteered to undertake a neighbourhood clean-up on Thursday 4th May. The girls, along with Bn. Mhic Aodha Bhui and Ms. Foy, took to the streets in their high vis tops and litter pickers to collect litter around the school and along the Salthill Prom.
Aaliyah Wins Connacht Boxing Title

Congratulations to 2nd Year student Aaliyah Butler who recently won the Girls' Connacht Boxing title. Aaliyah has also won the county title and will now represent Ireland.
Gaisce Outdoor Adventure Journey

As part of the Gaisce programme, the TY and 5th Year students working towards their Bronze Award completed an their adventure journey at the Shannon Adventure Centre. This journey consisted of walking for 25km over two days, camping out and preparation of their own outdoor dinner. Many thanks to Ms. Carroll and Ms. Craddock who are working with the girls to achieve their award and who accompanied them on their journey.

RSA Interactive Unit Visits Taylors

On 24th April the Road Safety Authority's interactive unit visited the school. The TY and 5th Year students engaged in a range of interactive learning experiences including practicing their driving and hazard perception skills on the car, motorbike and bicycle simulators; experiencing first-hand the dangers of driving and texting and driver fatigue; seeing how driving environments and speed affect braking distances on the brake reaction timer, practicing safe cycling skills on the state of the art bicycle simulator. This was a very beneficial and enjoyable experience for the girls which gave them a greater understanding of road safety.
Chloe & Elisha on Galway All-Ireland Winning Camogie Team

Congratulations to 6th Year students Chloe and Elisha Broderick who both played on the Galway minor Camogie team which beat Clare 4:14 to 0:6 in the All Ireland Minor Final.

Hockey Squad Returns from Malaga

Welcome home to our hockey squad who spent three days last week in Malaga training with Spanish coaches and playing Spanish teams. As you can see from the picture below, there was a lot of laundry to be done when they got home!
