Ulster Colleges Nannery Cup Semi Final Draw: St Macartans V StPats Maghera Date: TBA Regional Schools Hurling Final Our schools senior hurling final against St. Aidans, Cootehill that was fixed for Monday has been postponed due to the tragic passing of Shane Mulholland. Shane was the Cavan Hurling Development Officer and coached many of the hurlers on the St. Aidans squad. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Nannery Cup Update The Nannery Cup panel qualified for an Ulster Colleges Semi-Final today after wins over Abbey CBS and St. Colmans in Cloghan. 23/4/15. Well Done Lads!

St. Macartan's Mathletes Challenge Success

MATHletes Challenge is a free tournament to aimed at developing and changing how maths is taught and learned in schools. This programme is organised in Ireland in conjunction with with the Khan Academy. The 4-month challenge develops students' confidence and competence in maths using Khan Academy the global leader in free online maths resources. Students and Schools from 4th class to 5th year (ROI) & Primary 6 to Year 13 (NI) are eligible. The uniquely competitive and engaging experience culminates with top scorers advancing to in-person playoffs, where over €20,000 in prizes and the title of MATHletes Challenge All-Ireland Champion are on offer. The regional section of this year's Mathletes competition is now complete with the National finals due to be held on May 2nd. Six students from St. Macartan’s College were invited to take part in the Provincial finals in Letterkenny IT on Saturday last with three now going forward to the National finals to be held in DCU . St. Macartan's provincial finalists included Shane McMahon, Conor Lavery, Shane McCabe, Adam Corley, Nikita Skobelevs and Modestas Banys with medal winners, Shane McCabe (2nd Year County Champion), Stephen McMahon (1st Year County Champion) and Colin McCombe (5th Year County Champion) The overall Ulster Champion was Second Year St. Macartan's student Adam Corley. This award was based on his performance at the Provincial finals. St. Macartan's National finalists are Conor Lavery from 5th Year, Nikita Skobelevs 2nd Year and Adam Corley (2nd Year)
Emmet Campbell honoured in Mathematical Olympiad

Pictured below is St. Macartan's College Fifth Year student Emmet Campbell who was awarded an Honourable Mention award for his performance in the Mathematical Olympiad training contest held in NUI Maynooth on the 14th of March.
Student Council/ Meitheal Update

Members of the Student Council and Meitheal from 4th Year organised a Wheelchair Basketball Event recently for First year students and members of Meitheal. The event was very successful and educational and the amount raised was 210 euro which was presented to the Irish Wheelchair Association. A huge thank you to the organising committee of Colm Mc Anespie, Tiarnan Mc Gonnell and Darragh Todd.

A word of thanks to the Fifth year members of the Student Council who organised the recent Charity Table Quiz. This was a joint event with the Coiste in St. Louis Secondary School. The organising students were Shane McMahon, Glenn Donnelly, Francis Hughes and Padraig Finan. The total amount collected here in St. Macartans's and St. Louis was 350 euro which was presented to the Monaghan Red Cross Committee on Thursday of this week. A few representitives from Monaghan Red Cross were present and accepted the money on behalf of the Red Cross. Everyboy was delighted to present them with the donation.

Comhghairdeas to the Saint Macartans Brock Cup team and managers on their win today against Omagh CBS. The team had a strong victory on a 3.14 to 0.09 scoreline and finished off their very strong campaign in fitting style. Onwards and upwards for the future. #SemAbú
