St. Macartan's College handball team recorded one of its best ever returns at an Ulster Colleges finals tournament at Kingscourt Handball Club on Saturday last. Juvenile representative Tiarnan O'Rourke (Monaghan Harps H.C.) took the juvenile (U131/2) title with wins in the semi final against Patrick Cowan, St. Colman's Newry and in the final against Jonathan Owens from Omagh CBS. The U15 1/2 singles title went to the very much in form Eoghan McGinnity (Monaghan Harps H.C.). Having already won the 60 x 30 Colleges title in this same age category earlier this year, Eoghan accounted for Daire Savage (St. Colman's Newry) in the quarter final followed by Brian McAleer Omagh CBS in the semi-final. Eoghan went on to defeat the impressive Ronan Curran, Dean Maguirc school in the final. The senior doubles title went to the St. Macartan's pair of Gary McKenna (Truagh Gaels H.C.) and Dermot Boyle (Truagh Gales H.C.) who defeated Matthew Donnelly and Eoin Quinn from Dean Maguirc School. The all Ireland series will take place at Kingscourt Handball Club on Saturday next.
