WORLD BOOK WEEK

World Book Day became World Book Week at Dominican College Sion Hill. Each year group was treated to a literacy quiz, there was a spelling Bee contest and Toast Masters took place between the Junior and Senior years. There were literacy games available at lunch, design a book mark competition and the whole school participated in Drop Everything and Read throughout their English classes. The first year students took a tour of Dubray book store and the local Blackrock library.
National Tree Planting week.

The Environment Committee organised a tree planting event at lunchtime today to celebrate National Tree Planting week. They planted some native Irish species beside our pond & outside our new building. All first year students were also given a sapling to bring home & nurture. Many thanks to our caretaker Martin for all his assistance.
Earth Hour

Sion Hill students celebrating Earth Hour with a black out candlelit break. This Saturday people all around the globe will switch off their lights between 8:30-9:30pm to highlight climate change.

The Junior A hockey team continued their amazing winning streak by beating Jesus & Mary 4-0 in the final of the South Dublin B League on Saturday morning. The Senior A team also tasted success with a well earned 3-1 victory over Jesus & Mary. Congratulations to both teams on great seasons!!

Huge congratulations to the Junior A hockey team who became the J3 Leinster League Champions yesterday defeating Muckross Park 3-2 in a penalty shootout. The girls showed massive determination and our famous 'Sion Hill Spirit' to fight back and draw level after conceding an early goal in normal play. The scores remained tied after extra-time so into a penalty shootout we went. In glorious Spring sunshine the Sion Hill girls kept calm and composed. Ellen Deegan was outstanding in goals saving three Muckross penalties. Holly Graham stepped up to take what proved to be the winning shot and with no hesitation, rounded the keeper and slipped the ball into the open goal to seal the win.
