Prior to Covid lockdowns, our school had the wonderful opportunity of engaging with Pieta to promote positive mental health in our school. The hard work of our 'Amber flag' committee paid off and Pieta presented our school with an Amber Flag for positive mental health awareness. Today, we launched this flag to acknowledge the wonderful work that continues in our school to support our students.

Students lighting our CEIST candle this morning to begin our CEIST Ceiliúradh Day celebrations. CEIST Ceiliuradh Day, which we celebrate today is a new annual event which we share with 108 other schools around the country who are under the CEIST trusteeship like ourselves.  Today marks the 16th anniversary of the day we joined the CEIST trust, prior to this we were known as a Mercy school founded by the Sisters of Mercy.

The word Ceiliuradhmeans a celebration and today, we celebrate the theme of ‘One Good Deed’.  We would ask you all to remember this throughout the day and later at home and think about doing something positive for a friend/neighbour/family member.

Thank you to our first years who have been busy for the past couple of days gathering rushes to make St. Brigid's Day Crosses. It is lovely to see this tradition continuing among our young people.

St. Brigid's Day Blessing:

May Brigid bless the house wherein we dwell.

Bless every fireside, every wall and door.

Bless every heart that beats beneath its roof.

Bless every hand that toils to bring its joy.

Bless every foot that walks portals through.

May Brigid bless the house that shelters us.

Happy CEIST Ceiliúradh Day 2023!
