The 3rd year students had a great day in Dublin on Wednesday 11th October when they had the opportunity to visit Kilmainham Gaol, Collins' Barracks and of course the obligatory stop at Liffey Valley. The trip focused on the work that is being covered in history class as part of the Junior Cycle curriculum. Well done to all the students who were a credit to the school and represented the school very well on the day.
We extended a warm welcome to our new first years that started their journey here with us at Coláiste Muire this week. We have also wecomed back our current students from 2nd to 6th year this week. We will be welcoming our TY students back on Monday. We look forward to an enjoyable and successful year ahead. It has been great to see all the students around the school and to hear the voices on the corridors and in classrooms as everyone gets aquainted and reaquainted with each other after the summer break.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
Our school community would like to congratulate our Leaving Cert students 2023 on achieving fantastic results. We are so proud of each and every one of you. We wish you all the success in your future endevours.
We would like to wish all our students who begin their exams today the best of luck!
Our TY students held their very successful end of year ceremony on Friday 19th May and were presented with a folder of all their many and varied achievements throughout the year. There were smiles all round to mark the end of what was a very enjoyable and positive year.
Out 6th year students held their graduation mass on Thursday 18th May. This is always a great occasion allowing the students reflect on their time here at Coláiste Muire. Thank you to Fr. James for a lovely ceremony as always and to the teachers who helped the students with the preparations in the lead up to the event.
The students themselves put a lot of work into the mass from the beautiful artwork, the wonderful readings and prayers and of course the outstanding music and singing. They are a very talented group of young people. We wish them well as they move on to the next stage of their lives in the knowledge that they will carry with them the many fond memories they have of their time at Coláiste Muire.
We recently held our school awards day to celebrate the wonderful achievements and work undertaken by our students over the past year. Congratulations to all our students who won awards and represented the school so well in various areas including our fantastic choral win, the David Wilson Cup at the Interschools-music festival held at Wesley College Dublin. There were also numerous sporting achievements including the Sligo-Leitrim C&D league and the Junior Connacht D Championship. A huge thank you to Dylan Walsh from the Sligo U20 Team who presented the sports awards on the day.
Some students won awards for their achievements in specific subjects and there were also awards for overall student of the year from 1st to 6th year. Other school based activities including the green schools and creative schools were also recognised. This day showcases the work that goes on behind the scenes and thank you to the school staff for supporting students and giving them the opportunity to excel. Afterwards students could avail of a nice refreshing ice-cream when the ice-cream van paid the school a visit. Below are a few photos marking the event.
Our school community is praying for the safe return of our former pupil Justin Flannery. We are keeping the family and all those involved in the search in our thoughts and prayers.
Lasts Monday 24th April the Shona Project visited the school and did a workshop with our 3rd year girls on confidence building. They had the following message that they asked us to share with our parents. Please see attached.
