Active Schools Week concluded today with dance aerobics for all students from 1st to 6th year. Although the weather put a stop to our “Jog a Mile” plans, that didn’t dampen our spirits! From tag rugby to soccer tournaments and plenty of steps in between, it certainly has been a very active week in our school. #getmoving #ASW22

6th years did a cycle in school today as part of the Headstrong programme under the Cycle Against Suicide programme. They cycled a total of 281km over the 4 hour cycle, the equivalent of cycling from Newbridge to Derry. This event raised some much needed funds for two very worthy causes, Pieta House and the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association. Well done 6th years!

The F1 in Schools Team will take part in the All-Ireland finals next Friday 13th May in Galway. The team have been working tirelessly to get everything ready for the day, from exhibition displays, engineering and enterprise portfolios and actually making their car.
Today, our Team, Supernova Racing, travelled to LOH Motorsports, a family run business, in Donadea. The girls met with Kevin O Hara, an expert in the field, having competed on an international stage racing in the past and who is currently head of the Race Team in Donadea.
The girls were shown around many racing cars, ranging from Formula Vee, Formula 4 and Formula Ford, learning many tricks of the trade when it comes to car performance, repairs and how LOH fund their business.
The F1 in Schools competition is multidisciplinary and it was extremely interesting to learn how full-time race teams work and operate, which will be equally as important next week when it comes to their own race and team performance at the finals.
A huge thank you to Mr Richard Fleming who co-ordinated and facilitated the trip to LOH Motorsports and to Ms Whelan for all her work with the team.
We wish Supernova Racing all the best in the All-Ireland next Friday!
