This has been a very busy and enjoyable time for our Art students here in Holy Family. 5th year Art class had a wonderful ceramic workshop last Tuesday with the inspirational Eleanor Swan, a past pupil of HFSS. Really looking forward to seeing the works after they've been fired and glazed. Gráinne Bath-Enright, also a past pupil, visited our 2nd Visual Art classes to talk about her career as an artist, designer, and illustrator. She brought along many beautiful samples of her artworks. This gave our students a wonderful insight into the create process. We are very grateful to Gráinne for sharing her knowledge and talent with us. www.gbathenright.com/ Also pictured in action are are 1st year students who have now completed their textiles workshop with Liadain Butler. Thanks to the Art departments and all visiting artists for providing our students with such great learning experiences.

We've been celebrating La Semaine de la Francophonie (French week), Second and third Years enjoyed a traditional French breakfast. Some senior classes participated in a listening activity based on the series, L’Agence (The Parisian Agency) on Netflix, about a French family’s business of selling luxury properties in France and other French speaking countries. We did some virtual travel to Paris and Saint-Barthélemy… Ça fait rêver! First year classes put their creative skills to good use to produce some fantastic posters on the theme of ‘la cuisine et la francophonie.’ Well done to winners from both classes, Charlize Lomo (1st), Lauren Deane (2nd) and Oreoluwa Solanke (3rd) from Ms. Lloyd’s class and Emma Nolan, Rosheen Rajesh and Keira-Louise Sullivan from Ms. Byrne’s class. Last Friday, our TY French classes enjoyed a challenging treasure hunt ‘en français’ around the grounds of the school, made sweeter by being outside in the unseasonal sunshine, and with ‘une petite glace’ as a reward for their hard work! Bravo à toutes nos élèves!

Students from 4M are pictured with members of DESSA (Disability Equality Specialist Support Association) , NAG (Newbridge Access Group) and KARE who gave them a fantastic insight into the work that these organisations are doing in Newbridge.
