St. Macartan's will not open for class today

Due to the adverse weather, dangerous road conditions and the fact that there is no school transport service this morning, St. Macartan's will not open for class today. Students will be sent work online by teachers.

Due to the deteriorating weather conditions CIE have called the school to say that all students who travel to school by bus will be collected from St. Macartan's at lunchtime today. Students who are collected by parents may also go home. Parents who normally collect students at the school are asked not to enter school grounds as the school avenue is particularly dangerous. Please contact you son to arrange a suitable pick up point. There will be no Evening Study today. The school will remain open for students who have to wait for their lift home. A decision on school opening tomorrow has yet to be made.

As previously circulated to parents, St. Macartan's College teachers along with teachers from throughout Co. Monaghan will attend inservice on the new Junior Certificate on Monday next January 15th. As a result there will be no class for students on Monday next.

O'Neills have contacted the school to say that the new Sem jersey order will be delivered to the school tomorrow morning. Orders will be available for collection from tomorrow at lunchtime. The jersey must be paid for in full before collection.
Christmas Spirit Day at St. Macartan's

A day of thanksgiving in anticipation of the season ahead was held at St. Macartan's today. The Thanksgiving display was an opportunity for students to write a note of appreciation to the person or people who have helped them in special ways. The staff choir performed for students while First Year students were awarded for academic excellence. It was also Christmas Jumper day in aid of St. Vincent de Paul..

APP UPDATE - Available in next few days

We are excited to be announcing the Launch of Version 3 of our App in the next few days! This update is part of the process of developing our App as a single touchpoint for parents and students to receive and have access to all the information which they need, and for parents to be able to carry out other tasks previously carried out manually or offline. PLEASE be sure to download the update! There will be a number of new features including: Absentee Reports - Reporting of Student(s) absence by Parents (Available to Parents only!) It will take 15-20 working days for this function to be available after download as the school must verify and enable this function at the administration level. Study Buddy - All the past papers for students with view by subject, level and topic functionality. Profile Data & Verification - For your App to update and to ensure that it works effectively for you as a specific user, please complete your profile information. For students this will be Name, Year in school & Email (must verify their email). For parents it will be mandatory to complete all the following information - Parent’s Name, Student’s Name, Student’s Year, Mobile (& Verify), Email (& Verify). Please be sure to use the same names, emails and mobile number (parents only) as we have on our internal administration system. It will be mandatory to complete this process to enter the App. This will give the school a greater level of transparency about its app users, make using the new functionality more seamless and permit parents to complete and return forms and information to the school securely. We will send a further notification just before the update is available.
